The Rug Rats And Greaseballs Season's Are Over

Worse, only two other defenders scored any point at all. Paul Ranger, who was excellent during the regular season did nothing in his two appearances. The real big problem with the Rats defense, is that on far two many nights they were short two men.Forwards: JP Dumont NAS Rats F 3 0 3 3 1.5 0.5 Brian Rolston MIN Rats F 4 1 1 2 1.5 0.375 Michel Ouellet PIT Rats F 2 1 0 1 1 0.5 Patrick Marleau SJ Rats F 3 1 0 1 1 0.333333333 Martin Gelinas FLA Rats F 3 0 2 2 1 0.333333333 Jamie Langenbrunner NJ Rats F 3 0 2 1 1 0.333333333 Phil Kessel BOS Rats F 2 1 0 1 1 0.5 Scott Walker CAR Rats F 2 0 1 1 0.5 0.25 Saku Koivu MON Rats F 2 0 0 0 0 David Vyborny CLB Rats F 2 0 0 0 0 Brad Richardson COL Rats F 0 0 0 0 0 Brenadan Shanahan NYR Rats F 0 0 0 0 0 This team road the coat tails of Brian Rolston and Patrick Marleau all season long, but picked a bad time to go cold. Add to that, the injury to Brendan Shanahan, and the lack of production fro guys like Saku Koivu and David Vyborny (both held pointless) and it's no wonder this team went down in five games. Rolston and Dumont lead the team in scoring, but with a paltry 1.5 in production a piece.Goalies: This wasn't the problem, although the Sabres goalies didn't exactly help the cause. Minnesota was stellar, allowing two goals in each of it's three starts. With little offense, it just wasn't enough.MINNESOTA A Rats G 3 X X X X X 6 2BUFFALO Rats G 2 X X X X X 8 4 GREASEBALLS:Defense: Paul Martin NJ Grease D 3 0 2 2 1 0.333333333 Pavel Kubina TOR Grease D 3 0 2 2 1 0.333333333 Jeff Woywitka STL Grease D 2 0 1 1 0.5 0.25 Zdeno Chara BOS Grease D 4 0 0 0 0 0 Jaroslav Spacek BUF Grease D 1 0 0 0 0 Jan Hejda EDM Grease D 2 0 0 0 0 Jordan Leopold COL Grease D 1 0 0 0 0 Freddy Meyer NYI Grease D 1 0 0 0 0 Zdeno Chara played four games, the Bruins scored lots of goals, and he turned in a goose egg. There was little offense to speak of from this bunch, wuth Paul Martin and Pavel Kubina leading the way with two assists a piece. That's just not good enough.Jason Arnott NAS Grease F 3 3 1 4 3.5 1.166666667 Pierre Marc Bouchard MIN Grease F 4 1 3 4 2.5 0.625 Jonathan Cheechoo SJ Grease F 3 1 0 1 1 0.333333333 Michael Nylander NYR Grease F 3 0 2 2 1 0.333333333 Mats Sundin TOR Grease F 3 0 2 2 1 0.333333333 Daniel Briere BUF Grease F 2 1 0 1 1 0.5 Mike Cammelleri LA Grease F 3 0 0 0 0 0 John Madden NJ Grease F 1 0 0 0 0 0 Miroslav Satan NYI Grease F 2 0 0 0 0 Antoine Vermette OTT Grease F 2 0 0 0 0 Kris Draper DET Grease F 2 0 0 0 0 Erik Cole CAR Grease F 2 0 0 0 0 What more could this group do? For the most part, the stars scored when they had opportunities, with the exception of Miroslav Satan and Mike Cammaleri. Arnott and Bouchard were playoff studs, but aside from that, the rest of the forwards underachieved.Goalies:SAN JOSE A Grease G 3 X X X X X 2 0.67MONTREAL Grease G 2 X X X X X 9 4.5 From one extreme to the next. San Jose was awesome in net, but Montreal just gave away the first game and the Greaseballs never recoviered. Inconsistency in goal is exceptionally bad when your defense doesn't do much to help, and your forwards are playing like it's an exhibition game. Farewell to the Rug Rats and Greaseballs. The first casualties of the 06-07 playoffs. The two teams were ranked dead last in production, so luck had little to do with their demise. They just didn't perform as well as they did all season long.

Me too. I love the FCHL. My team is a huge underdog in the playoffs. Surprisingly swept the first round. But up against a monster in the 2nd round, series currently tied 1-1.
<-------------Aforementioned monster.

It's impossible to rationalize how insane I really am about thiis pool. If this pool, for whatever reason, went down, I'd have serious withdrawals... It's the funnest thing ever.
But Daniel, the one thing I dont get is, is this the ONLY hockey pool you do? Is that out of your choosing, or time constraints?I have been in one dynasty/keeper pool for 12years, and another one now for 6years, both of which im rather sick about considering I'm 36years old and married with kid/own business. Way too much time spent. But yet I still find 2/3 drafts a year to go into for old time sake (the classic snake draft types).AND now to try a different format, I'm a member of the FCHL. I have quickly found this format is addictive as hell when your successful in any way. game nights are a complete wash for getting anything done other than following the ticker.Just suprised this is the only one you do year to year.

I've seen these guys in action. They are off the hook crazy about this pool. So much so we got DN to write a story about the AHL in the Hockey News. Last year when they were expanding I thought about it for about two seconds, and then realized that they would embarass me. The time and effort that goes into this pool for these guys... PARTICULARLY Scotty Bowman Ngyuyen Negreanu... is crazy...... I'd actually love to see what they could do with a real team....

As an outsider, I get the feeling that DN and a few of the guys are sick about their passion, but not all members of the AHL are. This is the same in my 2larger pools as well. Myself and a couple of others go to ridiculous/rest of the world would laugh at us lengths, but most dont. I get the same impression about the AHL, where I see some guys not putting in their rosters and not being that dedicated to the draft and being active with moves and analyis. Then I see Daniel figuring out the true worth of Daniel Tjarnqvist over the projected stats in 2012 of Juraj Kolnik. Feel free to correct me if im wrong, not trying to slight anyone, just my perception. Just curious, did you get the same feeling Gruven?

Well, I've known DN for a while now.... he's in a league of his own. Somewhere I have emails from him with lists of 60 or 70 players he was lookiing for info on.... Bob (Big M's) is less public about it, but every time we're chatting, it takes about sixty seconds for Bob to hit me with a 'What about so and so?" question..... Serge, who, despite being clinically insane is also nuts.... Darrell (GOE) is quieter, but knows his hockey.... Dale, of course, is Johnny Research.... Nate is young and drunk, but still building a potentially decent team..... so, most of the guys I've met from the AHL are pretty serious about it.... more importantly, they all seem to really love it and dig what they're doing......

Of the 20 owners I would say right now about 15 of them are very solid and about 10 of us are really insane....A few owners have actually hired assistants to help them with their team...I sometimes think some of our new owners arent as serious about the pool as we are , and they just dont get the insanity...Nate and Dale have been amazing additions but a few of the other owners can be a little stronger...There are a few guys on this forum that I would probably prefer to have then a few of the owners we have.....I cant wait till my son gets a little older so I can start training him...There arent too many things that are more important to me than this pool...It is a very close second behind my wife and son....If you said to me what would you rather have a Stanley Cup for the Leafs or a championship for the Mustangs , as much as I love the Leafs I would have to say MUSTANGS in a heartbeat.I LOVE THIS POOL...Its the nuts

As the proud owner of the AHL Swackers I have to admit I got a warm and fuzzy feeling over this thread! Thanks Gruven, sorry I haven't had the chance to meet everyone...eventually I'll be back in TO a bit more frequently. For all those who don't know I work on cruise ships, currently I'm on the Carnival Victory doing East and West Caribbean cruises out of Miami. It's funny, I hope my fellow managers consider me in the 'NUT" 10-15 group! If you were a fly on the wall in our Crew Bar on the ship here youd often see me hunched over my G4 chugging Strongbow Cider with the most serious face studying numbers and stats and the like! I know everyone wonders what the hell I'm doing, but like the rest of us, we don't care..."it's pool night man, leave me alone"! ....my usual greeting here!I was fortunate to take over a floundering franchise earlier in the life of this pool. I remember me first move as manager come to think of it...unloading Mikael Renberg and his whale of a contract on Serge! (Some of you guys might run with that one! Give it too him good! LOL) Anyways, just my 2 cent contribution to this thread.Proudly,Swacker Dave!

us europeans definitely get the bum end of the deal. i have been up til 6am far too many times sweating out close games this year, my girlfriend hasnt been too impressed! that said being out of the playoffs i've already constructed a list of around 80 prospects to research for our draft so its given me something else to waste my time on! lol
