Any read on the button? Personally I would fold the river bet, but then again I'm an idiot.

I think my tone of previous post was a little harsh and wanted to clarify it, plus I was a little drunk. My main point was that I thought the original post could have been presented better. I think if you gave a range of hands for the dead money the post would have been a little different, or added a little bit of pot odds after their call. I think that an important thing to remember is that even though the dead money doesn't have a premium hand, they still may hold a decent % of the pot. If you believe so strongly that this is an abnormal situation, doesn't soliciting information from people that weren't there gain you little information. Your hand and feeling is heavily read dependent and considerably atypical for a hand where you had no reads. I personally don't see the point of this post other than to point out that sometimes a very strong read can give you information that is considerably apposed to general strategy.

I think that given you have little read on the villain, you did fairly well for the hand. I like the idea of the turn raise, but what hands call you there? Pocket pairs 10 or Jack through King and a 6, probably. Most of those pairs reraise preflop to a button raiser, and a 6 you are losing to. So the next question is did you lose value on the river? You have to assume that by raising you are committing all of your chips whether you go all in or not, as a re-raise would have to be called (just to keep in mind). But the river bet doesn't seem like the BB got lucky to me and out drew you.

This was my thinking on the river. The hands I was really concerned about were J's, 10's and 8-9. I really didn't think J's, or 10's would play this hand this way. With Jacks I thought that this player would have put in a bet preflop; same with 10's. I thought 10's would also put in a bet on the flop. This player seemed too tight to call on a gutshot, but I thought he would play a weak jack like this up to his initial river bet. My read on the Villian is TAG and seems pretty solid. Has been to a couple showdowns in big pots early with a set and top 2 pair. I was curious as to people's opinions and preference to 6 handed vs 9 hold'em SnG's. Do you approach the strategy of either considerably differently or avoid one version for a particular reason?

I think that the main point about poker on tv is the ratings ESPN (or whoever) would get. Especially what is good to tv to your non-poker enthusiast. I and I assume many people here not only would like to see the other events but also seeing every hand of a final table would be interesting. You have to admit though that a hand where someone raises preflop and everyone folds isn't interesting to regular tv audiences. I say shove, Button has an M of 7.5, which means his hand could be a lot of things of which 10-10 is better, unless he is a very tight player. The MP1's range of hands is probably worse than yours. I like pushing, if the stacks were much bigger I'd think about folding here.

Completely agree, also don't forget you had the best hand here PF.

With a large stack and weak-tight opponents of low to mid M's I think this will work in smaller buyin tournys also. I heard, I think, Phil Gordon talk about this on his ESPN Poker podcast too.
