and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

The Iceland experience sounds like a ton of fun. I could see myself doing that. Any idea what the all-in cost was?

A lot more than we initially intended. My wife put the bulk of the package (main flight and hotel) on her account while I paid for the connecting flights, the excursions, and most of the expenses like food. Not sure on the exact number, but if I had to guess...somewhere around $3500-4000. Felt like a lot considering how short it was...my wife fretted over that a bit.

Think this was our package:

We ended up booking the NYC connecting flights rather late, so that probably jacked our price a little. We also did the optional tours on the second and third day.

If you're going to go, I recommend extending it out to a week. We just had toddlers and work that we needed to get back for.

I dated this girl for about two years, end of high school and part of freshman year at college. She was a chubby stoner with a couple tattoos. Now she's a strongwoman/bodybuilder/fitness coach, and does not resemble the person I knew at all.

The ugly duckling has become a swan. Clearly you were holding her back

That was fast.

Ours took 6 days to sell, only $5k off our inflated list

Come on appraisal, one time. (We should be fine, plus I think the appraisal game is a scam

Did manual labor at the new house yesterday. Demo day. I am too old and too fat and too out of shape for that mess. 7 hours of work, pulled up a poorly laid, cheap laminate floor. That part was easy, minus all the bending over. Pulling drywall of the wall was not as easy.

Other than that, nothing interesting of note to add. Lots of work to be done on the new house from not until eternity. Gotta be out of the old one by April 18th, if everything goes smoothly with the sale. We didn’t want to live in a construction zone, but it’s definitely a good problem to have. Better than carrying freight for two houses for months on end

I went and looked at a house yesterday. Really glad I asked some friends to come along with me to talk things through with. I was feeling very overwhelmed and rushed and pressured and they helped calm me down. I'm much more at peace now.

Going to meet with the realtor in 45 minutes over coffee to go over everything since we've only had brief conversations on the phone because I really wanted to see that house yesterday (that ultimately decided to not put a bid in on).

Always good to have a sounding board and to talk things through, out loud. It helps me.

Don’t ever get rushed. It’s a lot of money and a huge commitment. If it isn’t meant to be, so be it.

I didn’t even know we were looking for a house, but my wife had alerts set up on certain neighborhoods we knew we liked, along with price ranges. You’ll likely end up finding your own house.

I did fine on my purchase but I almost feel like I should have just paid a handyman to come to all the showings with me. Kind of like a home inspection but more looking at what has been propped up aesthetically for the showing that would need to be fixed.

Yeah, I made it very clear to this realtor that I'm just as likely to put an offer in on a house tomorrow as I am in a year and that I d not need or want her to be personally sending me houses or being super active on my behalf and that I don't want to waste her time just as much as I don't want her to waste mine. Especially since I realize any commision she gets is going to be on the lower side.

It also helps that the couple i went with yesterday..shes's super good at design stuff and has been a sort of architectural consultant for developers and is going back to school for interior design stuff and together they've had rentals for years and so he has an idea of problem stuff and what things costs, etc. and have been through the process a few times.

we circled the airport for an hour coming back because of the fog/wind. when we finally landed the fog didn't break until maybe 40 feet above the ground. we essentially broke through and landed at the same time. the pilot came on the PA and said "thank god" in response to an ovation from the cabin. so that was fun.

Glad you didn’t die. Would have been a bummer.

I’ve got $25 on Kansas at 18-1 to win it all. Trying to decide if and/or how much to hedge.

I somehow misplaced my fire tv remote overnight and I am madder than a hornet.

I haven’t misplaced a remote in a number of years. I have a system.

Rarely leave the house, never have houseguests, never drink alcohol

Helluva system.

Nailed it. I just don’t enjoy drinking anymore. Haven’t in a very long time.

Spouse + toddlers = system failure

None of them have ever been permanently lost. And I don't think any of them have been really misplaced in months. However, when they do disappear for an extended period, it drives me a little crazy. I've never lost a wallet, phone, or keys. Still actually rocking the same wallet I've had since probably 1998.
