  1. Turn is a K. I bet $2 and the next to act raises to $4, remaining 2 fold and I call. My questionshould I have re-raised him to $6 or just call like I did. Raise for value. You're ahead most of the time here. Your fold equity is negligible. Fold if he caps it. -SmasharooIma have to disagree with you on this one. Why would you fold if he caps you? The best hand you can put him on is a pair of kings. limping in with K3 or K2 seems stupid, and if he had K8 he would have bet on the flop. Folding if he caps you is a little too tight for me. If he re-raised I would be willing to put
  2. Why would you put him on 2 pair? if he had top pair on a flop of rags, why wouldn't he re-raise you? When he bet 4$ on the turn you know he hit his kings so why wouldn't you trap him and re-raise him. It wasn't a terrible play but i would have played more aggressively on the flop.
  3. I just signed up for PokerMountain today won a tournament... it says i have 10 beta points. What are beta points?
  4. Thanks for the replies lucky, jack, and dick Casino Joe--getting to the final table in 5 tourneys is great but you didn't say how you placed.Playing SNG is as you know like starting at the final tableI placed 2nd, 1st, 5th, 5th, and 1st.If you got in the money in the 5 tourneys then you should be playing the SNG games like you do the tourneys. You have to play the SNG games fairly aggressive as the blinds will kill you if you don't.I like to play SNG1-on-1 also to fine tune final play at trourneys and SNG.Good luck--LuckyThats the thing though... I play SnG's like I do tournaments, but I get ow
  5. Something has bothered me lately... I've played in 5 tournaments this month and have made the final table each time. I've played in 3 SnG this month and in the beginning i play aggressive, but after a while i find my stack down to nothing and forced to go all-in on a crap hand like A5. I buy back in and lose again, and again. I play great in tournaments, but terrible at SnG. Can anyone help me here?
  6. Has anyone seen Owning Mahony? Its kinda an old movie but its actually pretty good. Its about the life of this gambler. If you liked rounders i really suggest you rent it.
  7. Thanks for the input, i appreciate it It seems to me when someone just grabs a random amount that they have a good hand, this seems to be a lot higher percentage of a good hand in my games with beginners. My thinking is this, when they bluff, they think "how much do I NEED to bluff to keep this guy from calling" and when they HAVE the nut hand, they seem to think a bit less. -JaysonWeberBetting without counting chips isn't one of your "normal" tells. I've never seen it written in a book, article, or website except on Super System. Doyle Brunson said that it was the only tell he ever h
  8. I agree with Metaphysician. Playing very loose preflop and tight on the flop seems to work for me. I will only play aggressive with a straight, flush, or full house and I usually will fold pairs and 2 pairs.
  9. Please tell me what I should've done...Players Left: 6Blinds: 100-200Me: about 90,000 in chipsPlayer 2: about 90,000 in chipsPlayer 3: about 30,000 in chipsPlayer 3 is 2nd to act and raises 400 from the BB. Everyone else folds to the dealer, who calls the bet. Im the SB with Ad5d, so i call. The BB folds and the flop comes Qd8d6d. Ace-high flush off the flop for me. Im 1st to act and I figure I've got the nut so I slowplay it. Player 3 and player 2 both check. Turns comes 8s. Here is where i make my mistake... Im known to bluff alot so I try to pretend like im bluffing. I say,"What the heck, i
  10. Good move. On Johnny Chan's website he talks a little bit about final table strategy. Some pointers he brought out were to avoid getting in pots with the chip leader and to mainly pick on the short stack. In your case, both chip leaders were in the hand so it would have been a correct move to fold. The only hands he said he would go all-in on with the chip leader were AA or KK.
  11. I've read some articles and books on tells and it seems like they mostly have to do with deception (i.e. Sighing and acting like your not interested in a hand means that your hand is actually strong). I find these to be very misleading. The only tells that work for me are these: trembling hands when a person bets means they have a monster and when a person bets without counting how much he betted means he is bluffing. These seem to be somewhat subconscious. Anyone know of any other subconscious tells?
