Back-to-back bad beats

Recommended Posts

100 buy-in tourney last night, doing well at level 4. Dealt AA, raise 3000 preflop. One guy goes all-inI call for half my stack, he has 88, and catches trips on the turn, natch. So I'm bummed but that's life. Next hand dealt AKo and raise 3000 preflop, one caller. Flop A-J-10 rainbow. Bet out 2000 to see if he caught his straight or 2 pair, he calls. Turn's a blank, I go all-in, he hems and haws then calls, has A7. Well we all know what the river is of course, that friggin 7. Think this 2000 bet on the flop was a bad bet? I should mention this guy calls if he has a piece of anything, had I gone all-in on the flop he still woulda called; had he raised with a straight or 2 pair after the turn I figure I could have bailed and still been around a while longer.Bad beats suck! Back-to-back bad beats suck twice as much!

Re-read post, when he flat-called my 2000 bet on the flop I knew he didn't have 2pair or the straight, and my kicker had him beat. Had he re-raised at that point, I wasn't all in yet so I coulda bailed.

This dude called with Ace 7?????????? That is not a bad beat, that is a dumb poker player. Unless you gave him reason to think you were a reckless player. You could have had so many hands that beat him.. a STRAIGHT, TWO PAIRS, A SET, ACES WITH A BETTER KICKER (was the case). And he called???????? WOW. He HAD to have known you were strong b/c of the pre-flop raise. If I were you I would have pulled a Phillip Hellmuth on his ass and degraded his playing in front of all. That is an example of an idiot. And to think, he spent 100$ on this tournament??? That dude has no business playing poker, at any level. Tough luck, man. I don't know what is worse, playing with stupid players, or bad beats.

You should praise him until the cows came home.Compliment his magnificent play and convince him that he should continue to play just like that every single time he was at your table. And then tell him that CoranMoran wants to play him as well.

Seek out the stupid players. Surround yourself with them. Every bad beat is a sign that you are in a game that can make you a lot of money. Do not run away from these players when you find them. You can console yourself with all of the cash you earn from these players in the long run.--cnm
