This type of flat tourney the OP suggests, is it not exactly like a MTT satellite???On stars they have numerous satellites everyday that are just like this..... however, as others have pointed out, once it gets down to near the bubble.... sometimes even 50 or so away... you get people who stall.... people who sit out.... and often your fighting just against the blinds.Its truly not as fun as you'd think with all sorts of non poker playing BS goin down...

I agree in the Web 2.0 era banner ads are not the way to go...... However, you wouldn't have to rely solely on banner ads. You could set it up much like Yahoo does for fantasy sports and have some sort of pay per use package that allows you special access to 'Poker Player rumours' (links to blogs / articles about specific players) or 'Live chip counts' if available (e.g. set up a crawler to digest the live info posted on sites like wpt.com)... You could also host paid brackets like they have for the NBC heads up tourney... (although i suppose that crosses the gaming line again)

I got two awesome suggestions but they both take a lot of work and i dunno how much you wanna be into it:#1 A face book for poker players. Where you can post blogs, pictures and have 'groups' with other poker players in your area. Right now there really doesn't seem like there is a site for this. Sure there are forums like FCP, pocketfives etc. but there is no real good way to keep track of what other players are up to unless they have a blog.
