  2. talking about playing over your BR....Tell that to all of the winners of WPT, and WSOP events over the past 5 years who arent top name B&M pros. Most people in these fields cant afford to buy in directly, and in turn are playing over their BR'sThats the whole point of satellites and the reaon there are 8,000 plus in the main event...and WPT events average over 500. When satellites were first introduced, the average field size was 100+Trust me, Tv and internet poker have helped pokers expansion, but when it comes to large buyin MTT's, satellites are clearly what sparked the growth.Just cause
  3. thanks guys...here was my thought process. He was raising and reraising a lot preflop...basically with any ace. He raised again and I put him on high cards.I was in the SB and didnt cost me much more...getting over 2-1I do not like putting my chips in preflop with king high, but called knowing that the pot would be around 22K with me acting first, and me having about 33 left, him 37.I was pushing any flop wihtout an ace, and figured he would have to be real strong to call off all of his chips. The flop came pretty good for me with low cards and even a gutshot to go with my overs, so even in a w
  4. about 160 or so people left in the $5r on stars. down to $43K raiser has been very agressive since bubble burst, raising and reraising preflop. not much play postflop at allOpinions?? Keep in minf cashing at 160 means $28, basically breaking even. 1st place $8K...anyone at FT basically $1K plus score.PokerStars Game #5671433289: Tournament #28499713, $5.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level XIV (1500/3000) - 2006/07/24 - 22:14:49 (ET)Table '28499713 23' 9-max Seat #3 is the buttonSeat 1: Nickki222 (95451 in chips) Seat 2: LoneHixx (47445 in chips) Seat 3: Robertih (126110 in chips) Seat 4: donatel

  6. these responses might differ from most, but is way I would play hand....hand 1 - he is comitting half stack out of position, so he is strong but wants to take control of the hand. we can assume regardless of flop he is prob pushing his remaining 1500 in if we call. With the 300 from the blinds, 600 from the raise, and the 1500 from the sb. there is 2400 in the pot. it only costs us 900 more to call, which is almost 3 to 1. we will hit flop approx that often with overs, so factoring that in with the dead money and fact that he is prob pushing chips in after flop, I would call. If you dont flop
  7. just because a player raises who hasnt in a while, doesnt mean that you can put him on aces after an open raise.so whoever said they would fold this 1 in 10???????Second, you are shortstacked and are going to need to gamble eventually, are you really asking this question when there has been one raise and it is from the cutoff and you have AKs......If you dont beat him in the pot here you will be a losing tourney player in the long run. Money is made by finishing deep. What do you get for 100 place....your money back?
  8. hand 1 I call. range is too wide and you could very well be in a dominating position. worst case is coinflip, and there is dead money in pot.I take this chance to give yourself better shot at getting to the top 3 and the big paydayhand 2 I also call. It is possible that he has Ak here, but unlike guru, I think him showing the KK was setting up this steal raise....If I put that much of my stack in the pot, I have a tough time folding when you are getting almost 2 to 1....it is a tough call though by all means
  9. my mistake was making it seem like i was referring to the overall tourney......I should verify by saying more so to that percentage at lower/earlier levelsget in cheap, hit a couple big flops and ACCUMULATE.....which is what was stated was guru's strategy to accumulatephrased it wrong way....either way 13% is very low
  10. only playing 13% of the hands could be the problem....I would try and play closer to 25-30%very basic without knowing too much more
  11. double shooutout to WSOP $650. Have big chip lead, but this is a turbo tourney with blinds turning it into all in fest soon.I know my hand is not that strong, but with range of hands that villain would push with I think it is a close call. I factored in, knocking a player out, gaining chips in with it as well considering structure of tournwy (basically winner take all)given this situation is this call correct??? Is it an easy call???PokerStars Game #5165590935: Tournament #25911748, $15+$1 Hold'em No Limit -Match Round II, Level V (75/150) - 2006/06/05 - 22:14:33 (ET)Table '25911748 1' 10-max
  12. the only reason to raise 3BB and not push with that stack is to invite action. Now that you have it do what you set out to do and get all of your chips in the middleIf you want to win this hand with as little a confrontation as possible, then push
  13. as another tip....If you are 100% certain that u read him as aces as you say you were(clearly not during the hand as you would have folded.hindsight is 20/20)...then next time post the question and say that he flipped his cards up for you before you made the decision.....that would be a stupid question right???So, you were not certain of anything, you had a feeling, and since you are not certain than the math that has been applied is correct and should be taken into consideration and you should have called. Also, for the record I have never read one page of HOH
