  1. Yes, folding preflop is the best option, I'm well aware of that. I'm more intrested in opinions on the draw after floping the 3rd nuts. A lot of times you run into these situations flopping the str8 low or high and being axed on the turn but still having quite a few outs. The table was very soft and cherry.
  2. Hey I ran into a situation I haven't seen come up in a while last night playing a live low-limit table and wondered if my play needed a little adjustment. SW - UTG - 6 7 SW- Raise to 6 MP1 - CallMP2 - CallBB - CallFLOP - 8 9 10 BB - Check SW - Bet 3 MP1 - CallMP2 - Raise to 6 BB - Fold SW - Reraise to 9 MP1 - Call MP2 - Cap 12 SW / MP1 - Call TURN - 7 BOARD - 8 9 10 7 Knowing I'm behind on the turn to the open ender on the flop, should I check raise this turn at this limit to maximize profit when I'm positive I'm holding the only flush draw/Str8 flush draw if I hit the miracle 8 c
  3. Luck is the effects of short-term variation. Gamers who play roulette and the like are trying to "get lucky"...to beat the odds. Poker players try to give themselves winning odds, not beat losing odds.Rog, thanks I had not meant that skilled poker players play the game thinking they are lucky. Most seasoned and skilled players know that luck is only relivent in the short term. I should have said something like "The begining player thinks he or she is lucky/unlucky" After all many ppl have not grasped the mathematics of poker by the first time they sit at a live game.
  4. Just that you get so much more information to use in a live game. I could not make this work online. I do think I was lucky to get him to fold. But I was damn sure my bet would force the others out and he was going to have a hell of time deciding what to do. (Me being a fish and all)
  5. you play to much online! :-) Edit: What I liked about it is that the others folds influenced mp2 enough to dump. I expected a raise from him and was ready to play at him again. Which really makes you think I'm a maniac, but I go with my read all day long.
  6. hehehe lighten up I know I dont need top set for pocket 9's. But I like to keep ya on your toes.Edit: I also enjoy it when I get called a fish.
  7. Yay... someone's listening. He should not fold, shit he shouldn't call he should raise, so I can play back ;-)
  8. Actuary, I don't want to check raise this turn. Its too suspect. Even a tight player is going to call down with that hand. This bet is totally fishy, it reaks of turned set. I'm not going to deny my flop call sucks. It sucks 98% of the time to even play this had with a raise in front of you and these callers unless you flop top set. I was sure, mp2 has only top pair, and 3-bet to find out if utg hit a set and try to "get out" any flush draw. I bet and sacraficed value, which completely changed the action of this hand and now even this tight player doesn't want to call to a made hand. After
  9. Luck gives us tons of things to consider and is one of the reasons why poker is fun. I believe "lucky streaks" are a combination of many things. From, whether or not you "feel" lucky or are psyched up for the game. (big one for me). To whether you have a solid grasp on the mathematics of poker and can avoid many negitive emotions and steaming which can contribute to your being unlucky. What oppenents and limits you play can affect you and cause you to think your unlucky or xtremely lucky / (skilled). If you believe you are lucky, you will play to get lucky. If you believe your skilled you will
  10. Either, 1. call the turn, check call river.2. 3 bet the turn lead the river. I like this more because I would not put anyone on a set of 10's or Q's at these limits with no cap to the 3-bet flop and so many callers. I think someone was making a move, someone has AQ and someone has a flush or str8 flush draw. I three bet this turn even if it makes a J K straight.
  11. live game 8-16 w/half kill (12-24) SW - SB, 9 9 UTG - Aggressive. MP1 - Loose (also a friend) MP2- ROCK. Utg - raise , fold to mp1 call, mp2 call, bb-folds, sw call. Flop: 10 J 6 Sw- check, utg bet, mp1 raise, mp2 reraise, sw call, utg call, mp1 call. Turn: 8 Sw- bet, utg fold, mp1 fold, mp2 shows J A fold.I set this hand up to make the move on the turn after the flop when I knew mp2 would 3bet top pair top kicker. Just, something to consider...lots of ppl have been telling me how they've stopped playing mid pockets from the small blind if its 3 bet to them on the flop. Even af
  12. I know of a "unique" home game int he washington area. Its a limit hold'em game 2-4 blinds with a big bet turn of 10 dollars. If the turn is big bet there is no betting at the river, it goes straight to showdown. I've never played it, but been invited several times. I hear it get pretty crazy with ppl big betting their draws.
  13. It would be an extremely weak player to lay down a set of 3's on the river in this hand. He obviously thought he was beat on the turn to 45 or AA. Reraising had actually crossed my mind preflop because of the manner in which he raised. The reason why I said that I didn't think he had AK or AX is because of this preflop raise, which seemed more like mid pockets raising to steal the blinds. After the flop this gets distorted because on average, as you've stated its usually "big ace" / Ace rag. You shouldn't evaluate your play based on what happens in a particular hand, but rather what happens
