Fcp Folks / Mods / Crew / Daniel /etc...

Recommended Posts

Not tryin to be a bomb thrower, but...I'm just wondering if FCP/Daniel/Mods, etc. have a problem with folks coming to this forum and pimping other online sites to play at? Well maybe not intentionally pimping, but mentioning other sites by name. I play every now and then at others (albiet rarely), so technically I am 'guilty' of that, and I think it's fine to do so. But at the same time it does seems a little bit like crossing a fine gray line to mention in the forums other sites by name and tell everyone to go play this tourney or that tourney, etc. I dunno. It's Sorta like going on to a good friends Ford lot and then talking to everyone about how great it is to drive a Lexus, or Subaru or Toyota. We all know there are other sites out there. Maybe it;s just not cool to mention them here.Or am I just full of steaming dung? (wouldn't be the first time).Just sayin...

Maybe if FCP had a pokerroom all along I could see a distinguishing point. But, most of us signed up here for the forum to discuss poker, improve our game, and bicker like old women, I think if we were now only to talk about FCP poker room it would be a bit ridiculous and turn off a lot of posters here. We are part of a poker forum and not all of us play at FCP, so regulating the games we play at would be out of line.

It's an interesting question. Before FCP opened it's poker room, most played on other sites (i know i did and still have accounts at full tilt, etc). It wouldn't make much sense to kill the community here by saying that to be a part of the forums you have to play at FCP and FCP only, as the community that existed prior to the poker room made it a good place to add a poker room in the first place. On the flip side, you have a lot of fresh meat (myself somewhat included, I read for a long time but never posted until I started playing at FCP) that joined the community because of the poker room. I think you can't have healthy discussions of online poker and completely ban the mention of other sites. However, it is sort of slapping our gracious hosts in the face when you attempt to set things up for FCP members only on other starts, tilt, PP, etc - essentially making FCP pay for bandwidth so that you can deprive them of revenue. I play at FCP because it's a community intensive poker room. If we have concerns or questions, we can air them to the community at large and more than likely get a response from the people running the show. Many suggestions made on this board have become reality, and it's clear Bob and the whole team are very focused on continuous improvement.ADD version: "Holy crap I'm in the money of the full tilt $500k guarantee" - fair game. "Hey, everyone come play on a different site with me" - less than awesome.

If we weren't allowed to talk about other sites I'd leave this forum instantly out of principle.Having said that I'm impressed we haven't had any censorship forced upon us, as a result I'll stick around FCP and tell friends about this site, which in turn may be providing extra customers of FCP "the poker room".

The spam is not cool. Trying to promote another poker site on FCP is ratty IMO.But it's like the Las Vegas poker rooms. They are all in competition with each other and don't allow advertising of competitive poker rooms but they know that other poker rooms exist and that their clients will talk about it.If I have a story to tell and it's on JohnSmithPokerRoom.com I don't feel a need to keep the site of my story a secret. I'm pretty sure Daniel ain't that anal.

I never played so much as one hand of "real money" online poker until FCP got its skin on-line.I have recently branched out to FTP and maybe stars soon just to diversify my game. I joined the forum before I ever playe online. Prior only live casino games. I agree that the fact that the forum pre-dates the poker room is a factor.

I think it would be pretty bad on FCP's part to ban talking about other sites even from a strictly business sense. All they would accomplish by doing that is pushing some of the forum veterans away and these are the people who made opening the FCP poker room possible. Without the group of regular forum participants the FCP poker room would have taken a lot longer to get off the ground. As far as i know its not good business practice to push away your oldest customers. Not to mention that as much as i don't blame him for it Daniel did bascially hi - jack his fan base for his own personal gain. So i think the forum members are owed a bit of leeway.

the day we are forced as mods to start locking posts purely on the face taht it is about party, UB, stars, FT, etc is the day I leave this site. I have an account on FCP but that was just for the forum challenge thingy. I don't have a dime in it. I play the vast majority of my play at party. You won't see Daniel talking about other sites, but I don't see what the BFD would be to discuss other sites here. Now, if people could start posting their questions about rakeback and poker sites in the forum for them(the online poker section), then I'd be a lot happier

Whooooooaaa! I never for a second meant to insinuate that any type of thread locking or banning ensue. Being a strong capitalist I would lead the parade out of here if that were to happen.I was simply trying to see whether or not anyone thought this issue was debate worthy.Great discussion so far btw.Peace! :club:
