Recommended Posts

I enjoy looking back on these threads from time to time, so I wanted to create one for this year.

Some predictions for this UFA class:

Stamkos: Leafs

Okposo: Minnesota

Backes: Buffalo

Lucic: Boston

Ladd: Carolina

Eriksson:

Vrbata: Chicago

E.Staal: Columbus? Tampa?

Reimer: NYI/Buffalo/Dallas/Edm

(ill try to be more specific/fill in others when I have a chance)

Steve Simmons likes the deal for Montreal.   Damien Cox likes the deal for the oilers.     Can't make this stuff up.

Toronto media and fans.....I want my hours of listening to all of you talk about Stamkos back.

Frans Nielsen is going to help Detroit sneak into the playoffs again.

Subban for Weber makes zero sense from a Montreal standpoint.

I'll start cheering for players instead of a team and burn my Habs stuff.

Montreal just acquired the age 31-40 seasons of Weber in exchange for the age 27-31 seasons from Subban.

Shea Weber has been in sharp decline the last few years.

This decline has gone unnoticed by most of the hockey world, except those who are really paying attention.

Shea Weber is signed for 8.1 Million dollars per year for ANOTHER TEN YEARS.

mother of god, this might be worse than the Hall Larsson trade.

I'm opening a new restaurant in Montreal called Chez Weber. You bring us a gourmet steak and we give you back a hamburger that costs more.

@robvollmanNHL Meanwhile .. Tyler Dellow was last seen running down the hall yelling to Chiarelli - 'I meant Ekman-Larsson!

really?

wow.

I actually kind of like Larsson, but holy cow, not to Halls level.

I really want to know what Im missing on Hall and Subban. Honestly, I would have offered whatever I could to get these guys on the Canes.

Just curious guys, if you were Edmonton, would you rather have Larsson or Justin Faulk? Wondering if Carolina would have offered it, and if it would be enough. If I was Edm, Id take Faulk > Larsson.

If Canadiens trade Subban, they'll be choosing Therrien over PK, same way they chose Tremblay over Patrick Roy in 1995. How'd that work out?

I would take Faulk over Larsson allllll day.

Outside of Draft pedigree, and the fact he is still young and 6 foot 7 or whatever, Larsson has been a pretty bad defenseman so far in his career.

I dont know why, but all Im thinking with the Subban deal is the 10mill commitment to Montreals Hospital. Maybe that one should have been delayed until after the NTC kicked in.

he'll still be able to raise the money for the hospital. Remember that his commitment is to raise that much not give it personally

The good news, Montreal fans, is Shea Weber comes with some cap recapture penalties when he retires.

Yes, but he will be raising it for a city he no longer spends any time in.

1) will make it tougher, since his contacts wont be as strong in the coming years in Montreal

2) he'll be spending his time flying into Montreal to host events, help raise funds.

Im not suggesting he wont be able to do it, just saying it will be harder, and its just awkward more than anything else.
