  1. How many times have you heard this:"well, I think you have me beat, but I'm going to call anyway."so, in other words, my bluff has accomplished everything i set out to do: I have convinced you that you are beat. SO WHY ARE YOU CALLING?? Folding is an option!!!
  2. precisely- eskimo.I've said it once, and I'll say it again. The author of the article wasn't advocating laying down AA in any situation other than in the one described. It is an incredibly rare situation. But let's not forget- AA is nothing other than a pair. Against that many people someone is bound to be able draw to better than one pair.let's put this baby to bed.
  3. for the record, i was talking about a guy who was describing a VERY specific situation. but i've enjoyed the discussion.also, ring games and tournaments are quite different. in a ring game, you can gamble a little more often, because if you lose, you walk over to the ATM, get money, and play more if you have the $$ to do that.in a tournament, you lose those chips, and you're out. you can't get them back.
  4. go to cardplayer.com, and click on poker odds calculator, and then choose texas hold em (green box). it's very easy to use and gives a clear answer. you can pick whatever cards you want.according to that KK v. A9 off is 72/28and KK v. 87 suited is 78/22KK v. 72 off suit is 88/12
  5. you just said it all- AA will win, ONLY 40% of the time.you want to risk your tourney life on a situation where you will lose 60% of the time?I'm not saying fold AA very often. Only in this kinda situation, where you'd be forced to play it against several opponents all the way through the river.
  6. I just read an article in Player magazine entitled "The Smartest Thing I Ever Saw at a Poker Table" that described a guy who folded AA after the 3 players in front of him went all- in and had him covered. The percentages were this, according to the article- the AA was the favored hand, at about 40% to 30% to 15 and 15, or something like that, but explained that that stat was misleading. Even though they were favored INDIVIDUALLY against the other hands, AA was going to lose that pot 60% of the time. Because you're not playing the AA against each of those hands, you're playing AA against ALL

  10. there is no question that our boy danny's bluff was way better. moneymaker's was nothing more than buying his way out of a busted draw, and a severe misplay by Farha. (farha was interviewed at this years WSOP, and stated that he knew it was a bluff, and a bad one, but he decided to outplay him later, not wanting to put his whole tournament on a pair of 9s.) It's not that hard to move someone off of such a weak hand. Negreaunu moved Deeb off of a far better hand getting into Freddy's head, having decided to steal the pot much earlier in the hand, and using incredibel poker to do it. Money
  11. there is a somewhat famous hand written about by phil gordon. it seems applicable here: It happened at the 98 0r 97 (or sometime in the late 90s) at the WSOP main event very late (maybe even the final table) where Mike Matusow raised from an early position to 3X the big blind, and Phil Gordon reraised double that with KK from the button. Phil Hellmuth immediately pushed all in from the small blind. After whining and complaining for quite some time, Mike Matusow showed the crowd on the rail his hand (QQ), and mucked it. Then, Phil Gordon went into the tank for eternity, and mucked his K
  12. weird. my name is shawn k. also.i think ultimate has the worst bonus. it takes forever to get it back. i mostly play tournaments, and you get no bonus earnings for that. i hear that fulltiltpoker allows you to earn back your bonus for tournament play. as for me, i've $75 just sitting there for a few months.
  13. also, thunder keller plays on UB as gummybear.
  14. I've played at the Palms, and the poker room left alot to be desired.
  15. I live in Atlanta, as does Josh, and he has a reputation here of being a tough competitor, but very nice person and family man. As a matter of fact, I emailed him just the other day for some poker advice, and he was as nice as can be, especially consdering that he must be overrun with emails since his run at the WSOP.Everyone has bad moments, and you know all of you have probably typed some pretty bad things after a bad beat online to someone who wasn't playing the way you wanted them to be. Fortunately for you, it wasn't broadcast all over the world on TV, and the world didn't decide, based
