2008 poker goals:
  • Finish reading Mathematics of Poker
  • Get comfortable playing 5/10 NLHE.
  • Learn PLO/8.
  • Otherwise, play less at small stakes online.

Hurtling toward busto with incredible speed. I am running $5,000 below expectation at PLO this month, but I didn't move down to 0.5/1 when I was supposed to, and I even had a really soft 2/4 table open last night where I lost $2,000. Anyway, here's an incredibly depressing picture:Posted Image

Just easing back in to online. Won about $1500 playing live in Dec and made a small profit online. In January going to try to grind it out in tournaments and make some money. Also I've FT'd a fair share of tournaments the last couple months, and I'd like to break through and get a win. Also try to post more in the strat forums.

wow..i'm pretty depressed right now. i'm -6 buy'ins so far this 2008/month.can someone please tell me being down 6 buyins is nothing, and not too worry.my worst week while playing fulltime has been like -2buy ins, so if i dont turn this around, which it feels pretty bad. I feel helpless right now cuz I just keep leaving the games thinking "wow, how can i lose this many times in a row"

Hey stop stealing my sig!!Not meaning to be offensive, but how can you play professionaly and worry about a 6 buy-in downswing? PLO and HU players can get through 20+ up and down in the same month

If he was that bad you shouldn't feel too bad about staying. You could easily be up 100BB instead of down 40.

Yeah i definately agree...was just starting to get a little to tired, but then he went on insane tilt (which was great) and then hit an unreal rush on me when I couldnt get any pair to hold and basically just ran me over sad to say.

I dont multitable, and i dont play HU. I think anything close to losing 10b.i.'s at fullring is a pretty bad downswing. If i played HU, i'd have to be ready for the swings.which i'm aware of.

Well, sure it's easy to get a big number if you just work from your peak. Going back to last month, I'm actually in a 38 buy-in downswing. (Obligatory graph of the last 3 months to show that I don't suck at poker.)Posted ImageI checked my stats to make sure I'm not doing anything different, but the only thing that's really changed is the W$SD which took a huge nose-dive. And that's with my WTSD actually going down a little. My postflop aggression's up a decent amount, but that's mainly because I've spent a lot of time playing ridiculously passive players HU, and you can't call a lot of bets against players who don't make them.
