Live Mmt Short Stacked Bb Descision.

Recommended Posts

40EUR buy in 200 player down to 19 left (multi casino so the bubble was set based on surviving this last level). Our table was 6 seat at the time. Blinds are 10k/5k 1k ante. My stack is 60k, smallest left. Chip leader with about 300k and is quite drunk and pushing a very wide range (Villain A). Average stack 170k.

I am BB with 34o. All folds to Villain A who calls in mid position. All folds to the SB who calls, i check.

Flop is 5s4s7s. We all check to 2h on the turn. SB checks to me. What would you do? Why?

Notes. Villain is drunk and going allin often, but never with dirt, but perhaps with weak kickers. He still called often enough again not with rags, he never raised. I would put him on a wide range Tx or better and perhaps any pair, but even a weak pair seemed unlikely since he had shoved with 33 before (I call it magic pocket pair syndrome). SB was playing much tighter but getting very irritated with the Villain. I would put him on a medium Ace, or a strong KQJ perhaps a mid pair. I would assume higher hands he would raise preflop as he did previously (TAG player).

This is my 4th tournament and is the best i have done. Over all i was pretty happy with my play. Players where very open with their hands afterwards often showing what they fold or had. My ranges and calls was pretty good. BUT i am not experienced buy any stretch of the imagination.

No straight, Ryan

We have a gutter + pair I believe.

Would likely have bet the flop to get value from draws and protect our equity/hand.

As played I'd do similar on turn I think; I think there is value to be had from villain A if he has a big Spade or any 2 or draw. We'll value own ourself vs 5s and 7s sometimes but meh; bet wide for value and expect good things to happen in the long run.

Thanks for the answers. Perhaps my post was not clear?

Anyway. I shoved. My thinking was that i have 6 perhaps 12 hands max before my stack is useless for any fold equity at all. So i just didn't have time to wait for something better with the drawing hand and hope no one has anything really good.

The result... I go all in, Drunk Villain calls, SB pushes all in. Villain calls, SB has the nut flush. I am drawing dead. I had only played about 40min at that table so i didn't have any reads on his slow playing such a good hand.

Perhaps i should have shoved on the flop? In this case it wouldn't have mattered. But generally? I mean with a bottom pair just didn't seem like a good idea.

I think you should have shoved pre-Flop. You want the drunk in there heads-up or you take down a double-limp pot and antes without a fight. In this case here the results might not have been different if the SB has a big card to go with his Ace.

You also want to shove the Flop (hard to flop a flush) and get as much as you can out of your draw if it holds up. I don't see any strong flush draw (with over-card also) folding to a short stack here ... let it ride.

Nothing really changes on Turn except flush draws might ponder a call now with only one card to come and you lose potential value from their missed draws.

Your stack was really too small for anyone who even sniffed the board to fold on the Flop ... thin the herd pre-Flop and live with the results.

I check the turn behind the SB, I don't like 3 spades on the flop and obviously I don't like your pair or stacksize... I'm checking behind the SB to see what the drunk villain does... if he's drunk enough to have been shoving misses then I'd love to be calling with my 4's and worst case scenario having 11 outs (unless somehow he has a flush which he doesn't considering he's drunk and a loose cannon and it's very unlikely that he checks a smashed flop). This way there's two scenarios:

1. He shoves, and we get to see what the SB does... if the SB calls I'm folding, if the SB folds I'm calling. (unless you have the information that the drunk villain does check his made hands on the flop)

2. He checks, this way we get a free card and to keep our precious precious chips to hit our open ender, trips (two pair no good cause it brings an A straight). We're also looking to avoid the 4th spade.

It turns out that regardless of the river SB will come out firing and there are only 8 cards where I'm paying him and going broke (open ender completed without 4 flush or 2 4's that make trips).

I don't see a lot of fold equity here, and any big drawing hand that calls has more outs than even he is aware of. I like your show down value more than your fold equity, and if the river is a 4th spade or something that you feel completes someone you can still get out for "free".

He only has 6bb. Thats hardly enough to push anyone off a hand, especially a loose drunk guy. Last thing you want is to shove knowing you're going to get called and your 34o will be behind 100% of the time.

I don't mind stop-n-going when you flop btm pair and gutter, I 100% jam that turn, though.
