It seems that there is a general consensus that Phil Hellmuth acts extremely different at the table than away from the table. Do y'all think that this is just for show? Endorsements? To keep his endorsement? Or another reason?

For what it's worth, I met (briefly) and spoke to Phil twice while at the WSOP. I also watched him play a bit.He was a little stand-off-ish but he seemed pretty low key and genuinely nice. No one likes getting outplayed and sucked out on or shown when making a bad play/call, and I think that when it happens to him for all to see he gets mad. Not only that he lost the pot but because he is embarassed too.Cameras off...he seemed just fine. Cameras' on...he's on and pushing product, persona, etc. :club:

Of course... "That's how a brother eat"... if he didn't have a marketable image, he wouldn't get the endorsement deals he does or be as popular as he is.
Do you honestly think he's that good of an actor??? No way.His table persona is what it is and that makes him marketable, not the other way around. Its not a surprise that he is different away from the table, many fierce competitors are so when away from teh competition. At the same time, I'm sure he realizes that his persona makes him marketable and as such doesn't suppress his outbursts. But no way he's faking it.

his management told him to act like an azzhole, assholes get endorsement deals! No way a guy can get so pissed off at bad calls on the poker tables if you been playing more than 2 yaers, you seen it all and its nothing new, he always 'acts" like wow, these guys just made the worse call play ever.Phil's a jerk for the money, he sold out thats all.
