  1. Daniel is talking about higher stakes limit holdem games. In games 30/60 and up, the players that get picked on are the weak tight ones. They are basically bullied out of the pot by aggressive players playing as Daniel described.
  2. I got the sense DN curses the Medicus for developing bad habits for him in his swing. A friend just bought the Medicus and I'm wondering if there are problems with it.
  3. One is a drug, and one is a female character in a story. Spell check will fail you on this one.Interesting study: I got to do an independent project in my analytical chemistry lab. My partner and I decided to test currency for traces of cocaine using GCMS (gas chromatography, mass spectrometry). We got the chemistry department to buy us a milligram of cocaine in methanol, and spiked clean bills with differing amounts of the sample as a control experiment. Then we tested the circulated bills. We found traces of cocaine on five out of six bills tested of all denominations. One of the bills
  4. He doesnt need to talk about it publicly. As to weather his political/religious affiliations are his own business, they are. But he also talks about them in his blog. My question is a fair one, weather it gets answered or not.
  5. DN claims to be religious. Fortunately he leaves himself outs. When it comes to very valid and practical criticisms of the religious and political right wing, DN tends to exempt himself by saying that he is "spiritual" and not a hard-line member of any particular church or political party.I think this is good. When it comes to very complex issues of drug use, abortion, and the death penalty, extremists tend to figure out what their church's position is (or their political party's position is), and just advocate that agenda. Isn't it strange how nearly all extreme right wingers come to the
  6. In DN's blog from 10-27-05 he describes the rules for playing props. DN describes the props for flop and stud games just fine. He describes the props for triple draw like this:For triple draw, since there are no flops or up cards the props are a little bit different:JJ pay $1000QQ pay $2000KK pay $3000AA pay $4000AK suited pays $2000 ($3000 if it's your suit)AQ suited pays $2000 ($3000 if it's your suit)KQ suited pays $2000 ($3000 if it's your suit)49+ points in hand pays $200051+ points in hand pays $300053+ points in hand pays $4000Trips in hand pays $5000Straight in hand pays $5000Color i
  7. Why are so many of the "call" proponents assuming that if you raise, players 1 and 2 will fold, and if you call, players 1 and 2 will call? This is a pretty bad assumption, and it seems many of their arguments are based upon it.edited to say:maybe if you raise, suckers 1 and 2 will call... and maybe if you call, suckers 1 and 2 will fold
  8. Worst advice ever. You will not end up in a raising war between 1 and 3, since they know theyre competing against each other for half the pot on the high side. This hand has enough scoop potential and if you raise AQ could call two cold. Youre way ahead of all your opponents for at least half of a multiway pot. Folding is terrible. Raising charges player 2 to draw against you for a low and charges player one the maximum to beat player 3 if he does indeed have split queens.
  9. 77 will beat 55 if they both make a set OR if only 77 makes a set. Hitting a 7 on the board happens far more often than 234 hitting the board.I really want to know why DN felt motivated to stipulate "BOTH" in that sentence. Maybe it was just a brainfart?
  10. You cant be serious. Surely you dont think MOST English teachers practice censorship. I had one English teacher who was a conservative preachers wife, but she really had no business being an English teacher. I dont think I read it for any English classes in high school, but its a pretty common high school reading assignment. I read it on my own when I was 16 I think. If you had a rightwing book burner for an English teacher I feel sorry for you.I cant even remember all the risqué stuff I read in AP English. Some stuff that was pretty shocking: Catch 22The Book of Job (and yes I went to p
  11. WTF!? THIS WASNT A SPELLING MISTAKE! OR A TYPING MISTAKE! This was an english mistake.
  12. Wrong. He said his meeting with her recently was platonic. He doesnt say it was platonic seven years ago. I know what platonic means and I dont have to look it up; thanks anyway.
  13. Im sure most of us know that people sometimes make MISTAKES while typing, but i forgot, you never do. Award goes to you for the pettiest post yet. This obviously wasnt a typing mistake.
  14. Who says they didnt sleep together 7 years ago? I for one dont think there was anything wrong with the blog, I just think its too bad DN failed to put a ring on her finger back then, since he thinks shes so great now.
