ah, I thought you had mentioned him a couple times. I saw in ground zero he's got some dates booked at that new comedy club in town and thought I'd give you a heads up.

People come up to me and ask me " Bob Zany.. is that your REAL name?" And I say no, that's my stage name. My given name is Big Dick McGee.

i always felt like the ending of the movie didn't quite capture the ending of the book. great movie, of course, but i thought the ending was a little rushed.

I hate every fiber of his being. He's awful and everything he writes is wrong, coupled with being annoying. Its uncanny how awful he is. If he was around when this thread was thriving, he would have killed it. Thankfully, he wasnt.

Maybe in the real world, he's not so awful (evidence says otherwise) but here, he makes me want to fight. Nobody makes me want to fight. Its beyond weird. I almost feel bad, but I dont

I went to the casino last night. Left up105 bucks cause set over set got me to Iger at the end of the night. But the real story is how annoying the average 1/2 player is. Jesus I can barely stand to be at the table with them. Makes me not want to go.

Welcome, friend. Glad you could make it.

What do you got for a setup?

I did ribs once and they were excellent.

I bought the girlfriend one by joule from Amazon for $200. I use a plastic food prep container with a totally unnecessary special lid, and put the food in ziplock bags. You can get special vacuum bags, also pretty unnecessary, at least for steak.

I gave this gift to her several months ago, and she basically just didnít want to use it for whatever reason. Obviously now sheís all about it.

Nice. I got one of the anova models last year on prime day. I use a little cooler that I cut a hole in the lid to fit the machine with the assumption it will be better for heat retention and evaporation. I also bought one of the wholly unnecessary vacuum sealers but it was a refurb on meh for like $30 and I use it a bit for jerky and partioning bulk foods, too.

I could see the necessity of the lid if you were doing this all day. Doesnít really matter for my 1hr cooking.

Talked to my boss, management did a 180 on the review cycle. Apparently Iím getting a raise of some sort next week. Boss tried hard to figure out where I got the info. I laughed and said I canít see what good would come of it, but that I would make sure everyone is on the same page.

Congrats buddy.

Let me be clear about the raise situation. They were absolutely going to make everyone go 18 months between raises, and something convinced them otherwise. My boss deliberately tried to mislead me, and then tried to scold me into revealing who told me what management was doing. It was disappointing.

Nice. Although thatís kinda fvcked up from your boss. Thatís such a hostile work environment. I donít know if I could put up with that for long although getting paid pretty well helps, I guess.

Had a meeting with our CFO yesterday about interest rates and then he asked me to stop by his office and we talked bank sale. Said he absolutely understands if i think itís in my best interest to find a new job and that heíll do anything he can to help me if thatís the case but also give them some time to figure stuff out. Heís going down to their HQ in a few weeks and he thinks heíll have a much better idea of their finance/data needs at that point and if there will be any opportunities for me to stay on.

He also said that this week HR should be sending out some more info inregards to severance and the like but sources tell me it will be either 5 or 8 weeks minimum, most likely 8. Not sure on timing or if any stay bonuses will be paid.

I picture this fella as the type that thinks he's a bit more shrewd than everyone else. People like that are the ones I like arranging for opportunities to let them talk themselves into everyone seeing the emperor has no clothes.

I seem to recall you thought the odds were pretty decent at being able to find a comparable (or better) gig in the area correct? If so and at your age, I'd say stick around and see what happens. At worse you get a couple months paid to look for a new gig. I don't imagine there'd be any kind of non-compete clause or anything, so roll the bones. Plus it would look better on your mortgage app to not be at a brand new gig. I just hope the house paperwork is final before the job situation plays out.

My boss is just used to dealing with people who donít live and breathe the job, because thatís the only demographic sheís ever supervised prior to me. To me, all these interactions are the key hands in a big tournament run. Iím not gonna forget what was on the flop when Iím pondering whether to cbet. Etc.

Yeah, I had recruiters calling me the morning the purchase was announced and I've got a pretty in-demand skillset. And as I alluded to, my boss said if I want any help with my resume he'd be more than happy to look it over and our CFO told me that if I can get him a copy he'd be willing to talk to a group of other bank CFO's that he meets with regularly. So, I'm feeling pretty good about job prospects, which will probably come back to bite me. But as it is, I should be good until the end of the year at the very least and most likely March of next year. And now that I have a close date for the house I know not to do anything drastic in the next month.

Sounds like you got it all under control but don't overlook my advice about the yard/living room.
