I remember that hand very well but did not think anyone was reporting it, though considering that Guillaume Darcourt has BRIGHT PINK HAIR the media flock like hypnotized humming birds to his table ...Darcourt was one of the chip leaders and having him on my right was a Godsend I called with AK thinking to get more chips later since I am quite sure GD would fold to a tight player/amateur/unknown if I just went all in and I thought I could count on a C-bet ... he checked so I low-balled the 6,500 raise into the 15,700 pot.Either GD smelled a rat (I swear I showered that morning ) or he was slinging his usual 52 card range on the low end when UTG ... either way ... yes ... he looked really uncomfortable and folded.My plan was to push a serious hand into his bet to double up (he had a huge stack ....) but two other volunteers at the table walked up to my bank later ... and I took their chips on my way from 81,000+ to 250,000+.Side note: My bank when playing in serious poker tournaments is "The First National Bank of You Lose" <=== reference to one of the early online poker program on the microsoft network that had a character that actually said (among other things ...) "Thank you for banking at the First National Bank of You Lose" ... it cracked me up :lol:Although it was the last hand of the level, I was chronically low on chips with an M of 6 or slightly lower, and the next session's blinds would have put me at M=5 or less so six-handed AQ was good to go IMHO.Just got back from some champagne and a good dinner, easy in Paris, looking forward to a great sleep with 16.600 Euros of prize money and my best result so far in the WPT. Next time I have to make the final table and this tournament has taught me a lot about my poker ...... in fact ... there is nothing like the top 10% of a World Poker Tour Event to make you realize how weak a player you really are so it really is back to work, PokerVT, reading FCP posts, and tossing my poker game back into the lab for some toughening up.Again, thank you FCP Bob, KingJames, rcqs59, mercury69, BlkJacShelak, & troyomac for your recent virtual rail posts ... Yves awesome playing I think from watching Darcourt from the WSOP Main event should tell you about his playing and wide range lolYou did well and with each experience it will grow even better. continue the awesome workFCP and PokerVt have a great brunch of players and guys who have done well and will continue to do so. Qualifying is the only way to go unless you are a wealthy uber-poker pro.Even in THAT case, I believe that there is good bankroll discipline in taking the position that "qualifying in" should be the route for ANY player to take.Although Cyprus WPT was incredibly fun because it was my first real WPT event I attended, the WPT Paris is my first WPT cash so I am pretty pumped. Back in my hotel room, I looked at the bricks of cash and thought to myself"Where was all this money when I was 20?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Geek Stats Alert (don't read on if bored of useless stats) World Poker Tour Players StatsThere are 3,998 players that have cashed in the WPT before this tournament. Daniel Negreanu sits like a king up at the top (Carlos temporarily keeping the #1 chair warm for Daniel IMHO ) but for the rest of us poker pawns, it is down the list we go to figure out standings.Total number of players that have played in the World Poker Tour so far is like 20,300 (203 pages of players on the WPT site at 100 players per page) so it looks like almost 20% of the players that have played in the WPT have cashed ... which makes sense if some people play WPT multiple events.In this event there were 312 players and they paid 36 players, about 11%.With my single cash of $23,404 (value of 16,665 Euros today) it looks like I am in 2,152nd place on the WPT money list so that puts me half way up this list, amazingly enough.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PartyPoker paid for the excellent hotel, transport to the hotel, logo bags, sweatshirts, decks of cards, and other good quality swag.I turned out to be the highest finisher in the small army of online qualifiers from all over the world so I got a pat on the back.The Aviation Club de France gave every participant an orange card protector with a solid silver insert inscribed "ACF WPT Grand Prix de Paris 2011".The WPT had bags and a card holder, offered up by the dazzling "Royal Flush Girls" at the event. While on the subject, the RFG walking around the tournament was a major pleasant distraction. Yes ... they are startlingly beautiful and nice people when you talk to them during the odd moments that they are not being mobbed by people.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Last note, it is unlikely I can ever get a swelled head with the "friends" I have. Ives do you have an account on Stars? if so try there sat's out, especially the PCA one.I agree the qualifiers are a nice way to go. Last yr I final tabled the EPT London, went out in 8th AK vs 88, it had 900 runners this yrs London table 1240 I went out in 46th only to come across a huge collusion plot on my table. 5 Ukrainians and 1 Russian were revealing there hands to each other in Ukrainian. problem was I understood this shit. Called the mods and they did nothing so after I went out I continued to follow them up and wrote Stars with a ton of hand hx's. 4/5 of those Ukrainians made the Ft and 1 won the seat well , I am glad for something she lost that seat and the others also got nailed. Winning my seat at the PCA was so fantastic, they gave out a ton of swags. each qualifier had there hotel at Atlantis paid, plus event tickets. $700 for expenses which is not enough lol, My flight was almost $600 and then the food there was expensive, it cost me another $2000 (also including a few sng's I played, and other gambling). They threw 2 huge parties that were great. I got a piece of luggage fully loaded with stuff. 1 tee shirt, 1 polo shirt, 1 hoodie, 1 hat, cards, button coaster lol, plus everyday they gave out more stuff. The best part was meeting some of the girls I played on line with and some of the poker super stars. Also met a few fcpers like gibler, wandigo and NNB. I won some money from Dwyte Pilgrim betting flips with him while he played the Sunday games in the lobby. I got an American PokerStars team patch from Danny Alaei for my bad beat story lol, and a lecture from Daniel for drinking Mojoto's the night before my event even if it was 1 . the boot camp with Vanessa Rousso was also good. One thing for sure the memories were great and I plan to go back to the PCA with or without a package.

I play as flintsword everywhere, but I have been mainly FullTiltPoker until they crashed and burned with some $1,400 but I have a great day job. Wow ... a final table in London EPT ... making a FT is my next WPT goal so when I get back to Vancouver I will look up the satellites for the PCA for sure. I have been God-damned drooling reading about the PCA event for years so your comment has committed me to try and satellite in.I agree that the swag is usually great and PartyPoker did great. I lost my solid silver insert Orange card protector the Aviation Club gave every player and they went to bat to get me another one. My Godson is going to be pretty happy when he finds out that I got him another official WPT Paris Grand Prix hoodie in his size (not extra large for the 6 foot 2" Yves ) PartyPoker kept giving us promotional stuff.People you meet are the great thing. In Cyprus I met some great Swedes and aside from our running argument about the upcoming Olympic Hockey games in 2010 (This was the WPT Cyprus Merit 2009 event ....) where I maintained strongly that the Swedish Team had better start loving the colour Bronze because that was the only medal they could expect from Olympic Hockey in 2010 in Vancouver. I was right, of course, since nothing would stop the U.S. from another gold medal showdown with Canada after the excellent game in Salt Lake City in 2006. The U.S. Mens Olympic Hockey Team was tough in 2010 ... the Canadians had to win TWICE to get the gold ... very close and a super game IMHO. The Swedish Poker Players of course maintained the fiction that the Swedish Hockey Team would win the Olympic Gold .... ... as I mentioned at the time "You are dreaming in colour guys ... think Bronze. It is the only medal on the menu for the Swedes." Good fun.This trip I got $2,000 in expense money which was ok and the hotel they picked was amazing. I am still here for a few more days.They took us to a party in a restaurant in Montmartre with a drop-dead view of all of Paris. I travel a lot in my job so I have been to Paris many times ... I know it well. Then off to the nightclub "Le Crazy Horse" which was a lot of fun.Pilgrim comes across as just plain weird but I know that media can be distorting. In this tournament they had Waxman taking me out but it was someone else .Finished my Blog and am getting a lot of kudos from family & friends. PCA is on my radar.You got lectured by Daniel for drinking a Mojito? You know the Aviation Club served a champagne cocktail DURING the event dinner break! I passed but it was weird and most of the top players passed. The young ones could care less, more worried about finding pot in Paris (confirmed conversation BTW ...) than the effects of a few glasses of champagne.

One thing people may not know about Daniel is he does like his beer however as his rule he will not drink the night before an event. He usually lives by that one. I am not gearing to be a pro but rather play for enjoyment. I went to the PCA to have fun, and so I drank a few especially the night of the big PokerStars party where I dirty danced with some great looking guy from Monaco who owns a yacht fleet lol,( a few of us girls checked this guy out and he indeed not only own a yacht fleet in Monaco but one in the Bahama's pics of this is on my FB page. PokerStars set up at the PCA was amazing they catered well to there players. The room set up was awesome it had cash tables, SNG's and tournaments all in 1 room. You could access your money from your Stars account there, which was a good thing for me and playing a few extra sng's. The staff was amazing. then there was the resort, all the water activities slides etc were included, pools and beach awesome. Loved the Slides and lazy river rapids. At night a brunch got together in our lounge to play on line, drink or just chat. Then hit the casino or night clubs. great fun can't wait to go again.

Thanks ... After making it to Day 3 of the WPT Paris, I am more convinced than ever that I have to improve my game ... it was very obvious that the poker knowledge of my opponents was significantly deeper than mine.Before the final table, I was having breakfast with Matthew Waxman at the Radisson BLU hotel in Paris and we were talking generally about poker, the tournament, and his upcoming final table. I got some good ideas on what direction to take my poker improvement in the next few months.Matthew by the way as a super nice guy but I thought he would win it so I honestly told him that "the Karma Train stops where it should and in this case you will win the tournament." I am glad I was right.That said I have to tell you this guy is amazingly good.I got another email from a good poker friend congratulating me on the WPT cash while telling me to make sure I stay in shape for the next WPT event I luckbox into ... I should (according to him ... ) lift weights, learn to play poker, & keep my gills clean ... sigh with friends like that .... all in good fun.
