  1. Everyone thinks it's weird for me because I shuffle chips with my left hand but I'm a righty. But as you online players know the right hand (if you're a righty) is for the mouse and the left hand is just bored. Shuffling chips came natural really. I play guitar and have long fingers so it wasn't hard to pick up. After a while I don't even notice I'm doing it. I also do the twirl thing constantly even if I'm holding change or whatever. It's a sickness. If I put a long night of poker in sometimes the next morning my wrist will hurt from shuffling too much. If you have nice chips the soun
  2. First hand in the College Poker Championships this week I had Q K . Flop came 9 10 J . I flopped the straight flush. I forget how exactly I bet probably because my mouth was hanging wide open and drool was pouring out, but another player was holding 7 8 and when it came down to it he went all in and was just devasted. Someone else had the A high flush too. Good way to start a tourney. First straight flush I ever got via the nerdbox.
  3. I have a couple books by Slanksy (sp) and some other authors I can't remember their names off the top of my head. Where do you guys get most of your books? I've found a few at Barnes and Noble but besides that it seems like you have to order them over the net and I hate doing that with books cus I like to read a chapter or two first. Amazon sometimes you can preview a couple pages which is nice, but not on some of the more descrete ones. I've murdered half of my books just because of folding so many pages over to mark little things I like to remember and re-read.
  4. Do you talk at the table or are you a very strict emotionless player? Personally I'm very talkative, especially if I'm in Vegas or something like that when theres so many interesting people to talk to. If it's a home game with my friends we'll chat about the Sox or stuff like that, but I am less talkative than normal. I think overall I'm pretty outgoing so I love meeting new people. A lot of the time you can start up some poker talk at the table too and figure out some strategy of theirs. No lie after 5 or 10 minutes of talking to some people you can ask "Why did you do that? You had bla
  5. Ballys Poker "room" is more or less a half dozen tables on the Casino floor. It's still a decent game, but it's nothing like Bellagio that has one of the nicer rooms around. And it's an actual room seperated from the slots and table games. As for the blinds, it's the same as any place. If you sit down in a seat you have to pay the blinds or wait for the button to come around. You can't sit down in a spot for 'free'. That was a horrible way to describe it but you'll understand when you get there. :?
  6. Yup, I'm with him. If you are pulling in over 6 figures and still turning tricks so you don't have to pay taxes, then you are a scumbag. I'm not insulting the guy that mentioned all this, he just gave excellent examples of how to work around the system. At the same time though when people skim their taxes and do stuff like that eventually it comes down to hurt the every day guy, me, and that ain't cool. I play poker and gamble at casinos at my own choice, I work 5 days a week and pay taxes because I have to to survive.
  7. I've wondered that about pro poker players in general. How do you file taxes on winnings? Do you have to keep track of what you win and lose everytime officially? Technically you could have a lose for a year, so what do you pay on a lose? At Foxwoods at least I know if you win over a certain amount on a slot maching or something you have to give x amount in taxes. I don't know if it's different with poker though. Everytime I've gone home with over $1000 I've never been taxed, but then again I didn't win it all at once.
  8. I'm a big health nut, ie going to the gym everyday, and what I do is cook my weeks meals on Sunday afternoon. Throw some steak tips and chicken on the Foreman grill, steam some veggies and white rice then you can throw it all together with different sauces and have a ton of different meals. Also for people in a rush Meal Replacement Bars and Drinks work well. They are high in calories (~600) but they will fill you up like nobodys business. I can't sit down and play for more than 3 hours a night after work and after the gym if I haven't had a days worth of good food in me.
