SexyStudThang 0
Well, Im stunned. After a little downtime on Party Poker today, it comes back up with a few differences. Now I'll allow the official press release to explain the changes themselves, (yeah this is from another forum, sorry) http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthre...=&view=&sb=5&o=I wasnt sure where else to find it. This brings up a lot of burning questions as to the future of PartyPoker.com and what it plans to do. Now remember, there was an extremely shady move made my Party Poker earlier in the year ((around the World Series), they decided they were going to float their site on the market. Essentially taking a hands off approach, and this was obviously to prepare for something big that could potentially end the company's rein as the premier poker site. So this is it.Lets take all the changes for what they are...First of all the main site seperated from its skins. I've always wondered why the hell you needed to have multiple skins for one site, other than to allow players to have more than one account at your site , and obviously the reason was that they planned to make them into seperate sites after they had everyone hooked. Those sites will likely go the wayside just like failed poker sites before them. Prop bets. This is an interesting one. You can take an 8-1 bet that the flop will be all red or all black, and according to the wording of the press release, this is not theonly prop bet they have in the works. I havent taken the bet I dont know if you can make it preflop or not, but the chance is 11.7% of this occuring giving them a 4% advantage on the bet, which is similar to Let it Ride odds, just a random way for them to make extra money. The black jack falls along these lines, and I myself am a junkie for the game. I wouldnt be able to resist playing now and then if I didnt pull all my money off the site (well all but 50, and I turned that into 500 playing blackjack, and THEN took all my money off the site hehe). The deals are the only worthy "upgrade" and I've never understood why these havent been implemented in the future. Anyway the point of this post is to get some feedback on where party poker is going. The site pretty much owned Gibraltar, and they've pulled out of all their endeavours and thrown on all kinds of ways for you to lose your money. With no previous announcement: perhaps Dutch Boyd got on the board of directors there? Im trying to figure out where this is going and discussion tends to lend insight to confusing situations. Is this a divebomb for the site? Are they done and trying to get all the money they can out of the people left on there before they close up shop? Or is this just awful management and retarded PR that's scaring the bejezus out of everyone?(Yeah i know I dont post much, I never feel all tha compelled to post anywhere, but Im a very decent player: SexystudThan on Party, and SupaStud on stars: some of you might recognize those names? Dont know, just talk about the stupid post)
allinbluff35 0
good post, I'll respond later when I'm done playing
HoosierAlum 0
My initial response would be that this sucks. Now if you want to play on the Party Network, you have 2 options: Play on a skin and pay less rake via rakeback, or play on Party with more fish and get rap.ed by rake.... Poker4Me2005 0
I think the blackjack will work out well for them, but their interface is a little limiting since other players cant watch and as far as I know there's no way to sit at tables together. Blackjack is definitely a social game, even more so than poker. I'd want the ability to sit with friends at the same table and chat/play together. The side bet is a nice little feature. Seems like they're experimenting a little at least. I would definitely recommend against doing it since the odds are way in party's favor (much more than even the blackjack) but i'm sure alot of people will try it and party will make more money. The seperation of the skins from party was the most annoying aspect of the update. Hopefully they've done it so they can integrate a rakeback system onto party... wishful thinking i know. Its more likely that they're phasing out rakeback. They've probably finally realized the skins just arent as profitable. It was pretty obvious they wouldnt be. You can also play on 10 tables simultaneously instead of 4. Thats a nice little feature. The tournament deal making feature should have been implemented a long time about but better late then never. At least they're trying new things and making some changes. I give them credit for making some moves that look like they'll make them even more profitable than they already are.
SexyStudThang 0
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?t=5d&s=E...=l&c=PRTY.l This may be of interest in the coming days..It's of extreme interest. Not this particular view, but check out the 6 month view. You see where they floated during the WSOP, the shares went up, and then sometime in mid september they plummeted....and now all of a sudden we have a new party poker severed from its sisters with all kinds of new features that rob the user of more money? I'd be interested to see where this goes in the next couple of days. This is just so strange to me that all of this would happen all of a sudden...there was just no warning. ddudley 0
I was wondering WTF happened. That blows for those of us who play on Empire. I don't think I'll be there much longer...
No_Neck 0
I opened poker tracker and 4 random tables last night this morning they were all below 25% VPIP. I think I am done with Empire.
Herr Mensch 0
Following today’s move, PartyPoker players will now play on their own private tables and benefit from a number of new and exciting products that are exclusive to the new platform. This is stinkin' genius. As if Party was some highbrow club and they were trying to get away from the riffraff at the skins. Every once in a while it's nice to remember why I despise PR. I can bluff and lie with the best of 'em, buy shoveling bullshit like this is beyind me.Mensch
WhiteSpade 0
I was gone away and have just seen this now. I'm finished crying now.PP now has new ways they can make money.. but that just means the fish will have less money up for grabs for the rest of us. They should have added a pool for guessing how long each of the skins will survive on their own.
