Morning After You Get Your Pee Pee Whacked

Ugh.Late night session. Lost 4 buy-ins. Steaming and passive play to a guy that was raising every hand preflop, in hopes to trap him, and it never worked out. Final hand, he caught runner runner for a full house after i put all the money in with the Nut flush. How do you guys deal with a night like this? I know most of you would say "take some time off" but is it natural to have teh events play out in your head over and over again?

Keys to your post: "late night session" -- (personally, I never play well deep into the night)"Lost 4 buy ins" -- (I've never come back from 2 buy ins (OK, once, but only once) when you're losing buyins, you're playing bad. Go away.) "steaming and passive" -- (LOL, I know exactly what you're talking about. It's a good way to get crushed.)"is it natural to have teh events play out in your head over and over again" -- (perfectly natural.)

When I play bad or have a bad game, it runs in my head for days. I know it's something I need to get over, but I believe it is natural.

I had a bad day on Saturday. Not online, in a local poker room. I have been playing really well over the past few weeks. My finishes were 2,2,4,1,1 then came Saturday. UUUUGGGHHHHH! I played like such a DONK! I was 3rd out of the tourney then proceeded to lose about $150 in a 3/6 game. I know this doesn't sound like much to most of you, but for a father of 5 this wasn't something that went over too well. Sure, it was money that I had won playing and it was just from my BR so no bills went unpaid, I am not like that. My family is first, poker is a hobby. Anyway, what bothered me more than the money was the way I played. I could not stop going over the plays in my head and it was really bothering me because of HOW I played not that I lost. If I would have played well and got beat, c'est la vie. But going over it, I hated the way I played. Well, last night I needed to purge those thoughts so I went back to the poker room determined to play MY game and play well. I turned $40 into $200 in about 2 hours. Ahhh, redemption. When I analyzed WHY I played so poorly, I think the main reason was diet. I am a late night person so when I played on Saturday it was in the morning. I never eat breakfast and started playing without any food in my belly. Usually she has donuts or something there but Saturday she didn't. Last night I went to play after supper and my mind was sharp and I had plenty of energy. I never really thought about that until Saturday when it happened to me. After the loss I watched some WSOP and they had an episode of "The Nuts" dealing with diet and a light bulb went off in my head. It really made me think about other factors that really do influence my play, not just the cards.

I totally know what you mean about diet, i didnt have breakfast once beofore a big tourney, and it started at 11am, I instantly got a bad migraine(cant spell it). I hate tournaments that start early in the morning around 10 or so, it takes alot of fun out of it, since most poker players are late night creepers, at least my friends are.

Very natural to dwell on them. If we didn't they wouldn't be bad beats. It seems to me that this is the first time you have ever been running this bad, so that is why it is affecting you so much. If some guy loses 4 buy ins every night he doesn't care nor look back to reflect on what he did or what happened. But when a consistant player goes on a bad run he starts to think over and over again, what could have been changed. It is normal, but once you get used to losing 4 buy ins to runner runners, (And I hope you don't) then it wont hurt as much. You'll get it all back, trust me, the donkeys always give it all back in the long run.
