brvheart 1,752
Did anyone else watch the new program?I think it's alright, I didn't love either of the two main critics, but I'm hoping they find their groove. The program will also have a commentator dedicated to classic film, one guy focusing on social issues, and another doing something I can't remember. The best part of the program was Ebert's review of an animated movie about a man and his dog. He liked the movie, the clip looked good, and WARNER HERZOG narrated Ebet's review! Sweet lord, do I love that guy's voice!I forgot it was starting. I'll set up the DVR. frautotenkinder 1,025
I'm standing in line already. The Ebert doc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9ud1HUHgug&app=desktop Did everyone hear this? Ahhh. I think this might be the most romantic thing I've heard in years. Werner Herzog talks about his love for his old friend Ebert. https://soundcloud.com/wbez/werner-herzog-and-milosh
AmScray 355
Odd bump. Used to see him IRL quite a bit (we lived in the same city), met and talked with him once in the early 00's outside of a White Hen of all places. Told him I liked his review of Dances with Wolves years back and how much I liked the movie (pretty much making the most awful celebrity-encounter small talk, ever) yet he stood there and talked about the movie with me for swear to god 5 minutes as if I was somebody other than a random schmuck on the side of the road. Quote from the conversation: "Cinematography is the match lit against whatever kindling is provided by the story...". Later that night I realized he meant 'match' like 'you light a cigaratte with a match' and not 'match' like a 'pair' of something. Also, we both shared an immense love for the film Juno.

I bumped it because the doc trailer is new to me--it's released July 4th. Your story could not be more Chicago to me--bumping into Ebert in front of White Hen.
BigDMcGee 3,352
His review of Pulp Fiction is what got me to see the movie and basically changed the way I looked at movies. I really leaned on those two, in the early-mid 90's,
