Trump pulling into a dead heat with Hillary in national polls.

I'm telling you. There is nobody on earth excited to vote for her, shitloads and shitloads and shitloads of people excited to vote for Trump. People who have never voted before.

If she can't get Sanders on board as VP, this is hers to lose. Best case scenario here is that she gets indicted in the next couple weeks.

This is a really interesting and well produced YouTube video on why Trump is going to win.

I think Al Franken should be Hillary's running mate.

1) he's a darling of the left wing of the party, the Bernie Bro set. It wouldn't be quite as strong pandering to them as Bernie, but has the benefit of not actually putting a self described socialist on the ticket and scaring moderates away.

2) His background is as a political comedian. he's been writing jokes about guys like Trump (Scathing ones) for decades. He's the only one in the party that can out Trump trump, when it comes to cracking wise. Every speech and debate would be a trump roast. It would be amazing.

3) Franken's obvious weakness, that he comes from an Entertainment background before becoming a senator, and is a lightweight, is a card that totally can't be played, when you're running Donald ****ing Trump as your candidate.

You're hilarious BigD. His biggest critique of his main opponent, Ted Cruz, was that Cruz was a liar, despite Trump being provably a liar of incredible proportion. Neither he nor his supporters consider him to have the "weakness" that you describe Franken as having, so he would have no problem using that if he wanted, despite it being logically absurd.

His supporters arent people you can reach. The goal should be making him look as ridiculous as possible to moderates.

Most people on all sides can't be swayed by facts. Politics is mostly tribal and people feel things, they don't really think about them.

I'm not saying Franken should come on, and talk policy. He should come on and tell scathing jokes. Make people feel that he is a clown, pound on his absurdity and ridiculousness. Don't treat him like an actual politician. Roast him. Make him angry.

Still not sure Hillary is going to get the chance to choose a running mate.

I've been saying from beginning that Joe Biden is going to come in to 'save the party'

Now its becoming a talking point for many people on both sides.

Democrats are weary of the Clintons, as demonstrated by the 08 elections when they ran away from here as soon as somebody came along that was not her.

Add in that no slam on the Donald can't be deflected onto Bill and Hillary 10 fold with almost no effort.

She's the worst candidate the dems could have.

But who isn't looking forward to the debate between her and Trump?

I disagree with this a lot. Being an extremely successful businessman is light years better than an ex-B-List comic.

I also think it would be easy to paint the Dems as a crooked clown show if all he did was perform standup about Trump.

However, I love the idea because it would be amazing... so I hope it happens.

The whole Trump is a liar thing is so weird to me.

Every politician ever has lied as a matter of course and now suddenly we act like the notion that someone might be a liar in political office is shocking?

Clinton used to be praised for his ability to 'spin the truth', but now we expect politicians to be honest.

Kids, politicians will lie to you to enrich themselves and gain power, also, the sky is blue

I was agreeing with your point about changing minds, it doesn't work for those who identify with one side or the other already. You might be on to something about showing how absurd Trump is might work with some independents.

No politician outside of sci-fi books has ever lied like Trump does. I realize I'm saying very basic things to people who forcibly avoid even the simplest evidence if it can make them feel like a part of the team, but this entire election is basically a depressing window into the enormous proportion of people that can be said about.

In fact, I'll make that even more clear. This election is between people who make their decisions by thinking and people who could be convinced to say or do pretty much anything if it put you on their team. Liberals, in general, in-fight so much more than Conservatives. There are a million types of liberals, and even the farthest-left of Sanders voters could find plenty to disagree on. Conservatives fight too, but usually it is just who can push farther to the right. And more importantly, Trump supporters don't fight with each other. Even though I don't know a single Trump supporter who actually agrees with the majority of his most extreme policies, they don't fight with each other about it. Something about him being such an insane, unlikely, underdog, authoritative candidate I guess.

I don't know a single Clinton supporter who wouldn't openly discuss aspects of her policies they disagree with. I don't know a single Trump supporter who wants to have any kind of discussion about any aspect of his policies that they disagree with. Heck, some of his actual team go on TV and say "yeah, but he doesn't really mean that" about the very few things he has been specific about. Being on Team Trump is not about believing in anything, it's just about being part of the team. He's taken the very strong "tribal" aspect of politics that Bob refers to and taken it to extremes that no one could've thought possible.

Wow, that's amazing how far apart you and I are on perception of what's going on.

In fact I bet you could replace left with right and right with left and that would pretty much be exactly what I would say.

Democrats have almost no chance of starting a third party, the Republicans put Clinton in office twice by trying to start a legitimate 3rd party that siphoned off 19% of the vote for the republicans and gave Clinton the white house.

And the talk of a 3rd party now is coming from the right, not the left.

The left basically chose Hillary in '12. An old white politicians who's been sucking from the government teat for her whole life. Ditto on Bernie
