Are there any good games in San Diego or the immediate area, outside of the casinos?
I live in san diego and yeah there are some good games. Youve got viejas in alpine, syauan, and I like to play at the lucky lady on el cajon blvd sometimes. Viejas has a lot of tournaments.

Yeah, I know about the casinos. I play in the tournaments at Sycuan sometimes. They have a 1-2 NL table, and 2-4, but I want to save up some more scratch before I start really playing. I've put about $3500 in the last 4 months into mine and my fiancee's cars, so it's hard to get some money saved up just for poker. Has anyone been to the Card room in Chula Vista on Broadway? Drove by there a bunch of times, just haven't made it in.Edit: Is anyone playing in the tournaments in Jan-Feb at Harrahs Rincon? I' might play in the 220 one depending on the money situation.

The room in Chula Vista is very small and very friendly. It's mostly low limit, and on weekends it can be difficult to get a table, but otherwise it's great for a beginner. I've played in most of the rooms in San Diego and the new poker room at Pechanga in Temecula is hands down the best. They transformed their old bingo hall into a 52 table poker room. It has great food and is very comfortable. It has a large variety of games and limits. If you like tournament poker I'd recommend Ocean's Eleven. They have the best staff and dealers. The place is top notch for tourney poker considering the surrounding casinos in San Diego. These two casinos in my opinion have really taken poker seriously and not just as a fad. A lot of other places IE: Sycuan and Viejas put alot of effort on their slots and tables games and as a result; poker takes a back seat. You'd have to go up to Los Angeles to the Commerce or the Bike to find a better run tourney. Hope this helps... :D

Well Temecula, isn't excaty close if you live in or near the city. It is a nice place, but the drive is a killer. I play quite a bit at the Village Card room on Broadway. It is small, but close.

theres a dorm tournament out at ucsd on mondays and wednesday. usually about 45 guys who up. $20 dollar buy-in with unlimited re-buys first 3 limits.(1.5 hours) starts at roughly 930 and dont plan on leaving till about 5 or so in the morning.(if u wanna win). outside of that me adn some buddies play a $5-10 mixed game once a week or so when school is in session and about every night when school is out.hold em/stud/omaha. favorite card room is at barona though, sucks they got rid of omaha and dont hosue tourneys. 14 tabes and and $8-16 is the high limit(kinda weak). anyways outside of that thats the only poker i play in san diego, if ur interested in the ucsd tourney hit me on aim (superchuck96) or just reply to post and ill give you directions/info. keeping in mind that they are gonna be on winter break here soon so u might have to wait till spring :D
