personally i think nash is the runaway. kobe's had a helluva season but unless the lakers make a push for the 6th seed he wont be in contention. lebron has been amazing, and brand has carried the clips this year. should be interesting come seasons end.

I voted nash even though I am from clevelandI was skeptical last year but without stoudamire their record is impressivealthough i dont think they have a chance in hell in the playoffsit wouldn't bug me if they gave it to billups that would be a nice storyElton Brand deserves MVP every year for having to live with that idiot that runs his teamDwayne Wade deserves consideration as well possibly as AI

if there was "best ensemble" award in the nba, the pistons would get it. billups has been great, but he doesnt have to carry his team quite like the other candidates do. AI does deserve consideration. i think ppl expected the sixers to be better this year, but they're still mediocre, despite allen's great season.

I voted Elton Brand. He has the Clippers looking like a serious threat out west, something that hasn't been said since LB was the coach like 15 years ago.My second choice would be Nash, the guy is the purest PG in the league today. He is like a shorter version of Jason Kidd with a real jumpshot and seems to work harder than anyone else to make his teammates better.

Kidd was a top defensive player in his prime though while Nash can't guard anyone. The Mamba is the best player in the league.BTW, I saw Kidd play in high school and he totally dominated the games and would score something like 18 points. He just did everything and made everyone better.

Yea, I have seen footage of him back then and he was pretty amazing. If the guy ever developed a real jump shot, he would be a MVP contender year in and year out.Nash is making player you never heard of score 18 points a game without Amare in the middle taking double teams, that is saying something.

I'm ok with Nash as MVP, especially if it gets people passing the ball more.

It is Steve Nash..and it isn't even close. Didn't they just beat Dallas on the road WITHOUT Stoudamire!?!?!? Sick. They will be a threat in the playoffs if he comes back 90% or better.

that injury is really bad barkley said they are morons if they let him play - he is their future and he said even jordan joining a team late in the playoffs didnt work - why risk it with a 20 year old star

Very well said. Lamond Murray is living proof that Kidd makes players around him much better. I doubt Murray would have been drafted at #7 if he didn't play with Kidd. E. Brand has been one of the most underrated players in the NBA despite his consistency. I am rooting for him to win it this year.Btw, Wynn Casino has put together lines "for entertainment purposes " for Sports Illustrated on the MVC race:http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=cnns...cnnsi&type=lgnsPoor Matrix at 100 to 1!

Charles Barkely also said he is running for governor of Alabama, and he also said that Yao Ming is a stick figure who won't ever be that good. I wouldn't put too much stock into what he says..he is funny sometimes..but he just goes off on people randomly sometimes. That being said...I was/am still under the impression that Amare wants to come back and that he will come back....we'll see.

did you really just quote charles barkley as an authority on sports injury?

I've seen other reports that said Amare's injury is very susceptible to re-injury and making it much worse if he comes back too soon. I'd try to find one of these articles, but I'm feeling pretty lazy right now. Actually, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

As much as I like Dwyane Wade, I hate the fact that his name is spelled "DWYANE."That isn't Dwayne. It's D-yawn-aye. Yet he pronounces it Dwayne.Bastard. People need to stop ****ing with names. On topic, I say Lebron is the MVP.

Steve Nash. It's not even close. The biggest problem with Nash's candidacy right now is Shawn Marion's ridiculous numbers since the All-Star break. He's putting up something like 27/13 with his usual couple of blocks and steals per game, and still playing out of position at power forward. Still, for carrying seven players to career-high averages in points while stepping up his own numbers without Stoudemire, Nash gets my vote.Yeah, I'm biased.

I'm happy with anyone but Kobe, most selfish ball-hog I've ever seen. The Lakers are doomed to mediocrity as long as he plays there
Lol, not that I believe that Kobe should be the MVP [my vote's for Nash], but that's hardly true. It's kinda hard when your team is so wildly inconsistent on a player by player basis to be a good passer. Also, he does have the second most assists on his team, more than Parker, the guy who should be doing the passing, with something like 4.6. The only guy that has more assists than him? Odom, who gets his assists from passing to Kobe, lol....What about Macgrady, who has like a fraction more assists, but shoots 40%? That's better?Usually a team that has only one superstar with minimal support tends to be mediocre...Just look back at all the teams that have done well in recent years. Which ones had one superstar and poor support?[Yes, Odom does put up great numbers, but they tend to fluctuate wildly, making it difficult to consistently help Kobe out]

Have you ever watched him play? Totally a 1-man show, he has no intentions of making his team better. Lots of 1 on 3, spin move, fade away, that-will-look-good-on-Sportscenter-if-it-goes-in type of crap. He should not get an MVP until he changes his game, he has time, but I doubt it will happen
