phil gordon & the wsop

Recommended Posts

thru his website I asked Phil how much he would play at the WSOP and what his expectations are, here is his response:about 25 tournaments, and I would be very lucky to make 1-2 final tables, much lesswin a bracelet. The fields are enormous this year. Truly staggering. Phil Gordon

Phil Gordon rocks. His podcasts are awesome, he's definently one of the best spoken poker players around. I definently hope he does well this year, I think he deserves a bracelet. Maybe he'll take home the blind man's bluff bracelet if the're havin it this year.

A humble poker player whaaaa????? good luck to the man!
He seems humble but is a cutthroat gambler! Go read the antics of Phil and his buddies at www.tiltboys.com There are some really good PG stories there.I also reccomend his book, it's an easy read and very enjoyable. Out of all the FTP pros i enjoy chatting with him the most, except that one time Andy Bloch and I made the final table of a 4 a.m. Razz tournament and I wound up giving him a new nickname.Bloch had just showed down a hand in which he was dealt three sixes to start, lucky we weren't playing stud!Andy Bloch: 666Dealer: Hand #87859160SAM SHADY: not a good sign...lolAndy Bloch: it's good to medmoneypoker: he is the andy-christDealer: SAM SHADY has 15 seconds left to actAndy Bloch: except in razzAndy Bloch: that's my new nickname, the andy-christ!dmoneypoker: awesome

is there seriously a bracelet for BMB? Anyways, Gordon is a good-player, he can be a little outspoken sometimes, but I expected him to do well this year at WSOP

I think they're replacing the Blind Man's Bluff competition this year with a Roshambo (Rock-Paper-Scissors) tournament, organized by Gordon. The entry fee is $200 and there will be 64 players. $10k to the winner, and $2800 to charity. The field should be tough, with at least three former Roshambo World Champions playing. If I get heads up with Chris Ferguson, it will be Jesus versus the Andy-christ! Andy

Nice to see Andy Bloch join in.....I have played w/ him a few times at FT, he seems like a cool guy....And dam, I wish I would have known Phil, was going to play that many events I would have put him in my top 10.... I thought he might have been to BIG TIME, to play that much....oh well GL Phil.Huskers20

I met Phil at Rain at the Palms on the weekend...great guy, and did you know he's 6'9"!!He had a few interesting comments about daniel and the heads-up matches, and the wsop (i.e. daniel will get killed, the wsop a total crap-shoot). He was also very humble in his own abilities; he claims he wouldn't even put himself in the top 100 players worldwide. He did, however, manage to slip in that he's the world's best poker teacher and poker announcer. I told him some people think that sklansky and mike sexton are pretty good too, to which he responded "world's best teacher and announcer!!!". he also mentioned dave foley is a funny guy, but a total lush...guess that's why his career has been in the toilet since kids in the hall.
