Let's Help Getsprung!

Recommended Posts

Hello FCP!I'm posting to see if we can possibly help Jon "GetSprung" Sprung get a job at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. They've recently posted 14 openings for dealers, and I know Jon would be very interested in getting hired there!Jon's been trying to find a steady dealing job for close to a year, but he's had really awful luck. He dealt at the WSOP last year, tournaments at Ballys, Binions, etc, but it seems like if you don't know anyone, you can't get hired full time. Casinos need competent dealers that actually understand the games they're dealing to the players, and I know that Sprung would fit wherever he was hired. Problem is, he doesn't have a leg up that others have because he doesn't know anyone :(I figure there's someone here in FCP that might know someone and be able to make a phone call on his behalf. I don't know a blessed soul at the Bellagio, but maybe we can all pool our resources and help a fellow FCPer get the break he needs since he moved out to Vegas.

I know plenty of people at Bellagio. Ugh, I would never want to be a dealer. It's my understanding that Bellagio looks for people with two years experience dealing poker at casinos before they hire. They don't hire break in dealers. Is Get Sprung the guy who ridiculed how I played AQ at the Bellagio 25k WPT :club:

Hi Steve. =)I believe I did apologize for that during the series last year but I may not have. I'm not a break in dealer by any means, just haven't gotten the huge break I need to work somewhere full time. All I need is an audition to impress at the Bellagio.

I was kidding about the WPT remark. I'll see what I can do.

Steve, fwiw Jon was pretty cool to me the few times I've met him and I think he is a great dealer. I'd join the email/phone call barrage if someone tells me what to do.Mark

I never new it was so hard to get a dealing job in Vegas. Judging by the quality(or lack there of) of dealers I have seen I thought they were taking everyone who applyed.
My step brother is a dealer at Monte Carlo (he dealt in the FCP tourney earlier this year) and many times we have talked about Vegas. The thing down there is all about "juice". It all about who you know. The reason for the lack of quality seen in alot of the rooms is because that person was likely hired because he is related to or has a quality hook up with in the casino. They are rarely hired based on skill. They don't take anywhere near the number of people that apply.

This is exactly why I'm not working at several casinos right now. Especially PH, which basically said I was hired because of my skill until it turns out the COO of the company went over the head of the poker room manager and hired "personal friends" who had never dealt poker before. Welcome to Vegas.
