  1. I was playing some four handed .25 - .50 NLHE today when a interesting hand came up. I raised on the button with 8 9 to $2. Both the small and big blind called. The flop came Q 7 6 . The small blind checked and the big blind bet $2.50. I raised it to $6.50 and the small blind re-raised it to $13. The big blind called and I moved all in for about $25 more. The small blind thought for about 3 minutes and folded and the big blind called with pocket kings. I end up hitting my flush and win a pretty big pot. Turns out the small blind folded A Q.
  2. Tonight was probably the best poker I've ever played since I first started playing about 3 years ago. Me and a few of my friends who I play poker with on a regular basis played a quick 5 handed NLHE tourney. Everyone started out with 10,000 in chips and we moved the blinds up every 20 minutes. I steadily increased my stack throughout the night making a few good plays and getting a few lucky breaks when the following hand came up. Blinds were at 200-400 and everyone folded to the player in the small blind who limped in and I checked with K 5 . The flop came 4 6 10 . My opponent checke
  3. Is this book intended more for limit holdem players and can it be useful in improving both your limit and no-limit game?
  4. What are some of the major differences between these two books and which one would you guys reccommend reading?
  5. Does anyone know of any good omaha or 7 stud books ?
  6. I've been looking into reading some of Sklansky's books and I just wanted to know what you guys think about them specifically "Tournament Poker for Advanced Players" by Sklansky.
  7. I've been looking for some new reading material and I just wanted to know what you guys think about Sklansky's books and more specifically what you guys think about "Tournament Poker for Advanced Players" by Sklansky . I've already read both of Harrington's books so do you guys think buying Sklansky's book on tournament poker is worth buying since Harrington's book seemed to be pretty thorough. I' ve never read any of his stuff yet but I can't wait to pick up some of his books.
  8. NLHE tourny, got down to heads up, blinds were 400-800, I had about 9,500 in chips and my opponent had about 40,000 in chips. The player on the button limped in and i checked in the big blind with A 7 . I would usually move in with this hand pre-flop in this situation but my opponent happened to be drunk and was calling anything regardless of his cards so i knew that if i hit the flop i would double up without a doubt and figured that taking a flop was the best choice. The flop came 3 4 5 giving me a two way straight draw and back door flush draw plus an over card that i knew was prob
  9. I just played a NLHE tourney at my friend's house and made it heads up when the following hand came up. Blinds were at 10/20 and the player on the button raised it to $40. I re-raised in the small blind with A 10 to $80. I started the hand with roughly $600 in chips and my opponent had roughly $500 in chips. Now before the flop I could tell a lot of chips were going to be going into the pot because my opponent seemed to be getting tired and eager to leave. This is a player that I know pretty well and hates being re-raised or being pushed out of a pot. So the flop comes 8 8 7 and I ch
  10. i had about $24 and he had about $20 and change.
  11. I was playing a 5 handed NLHE cash game with blinds at .25 and .50 with a super aggressive/loose/ horrible player. Just to show how loose and horrible this player was, on a flop of K 4 6 i went all in and he called with A 7 only to double me up. A few hands later the following hand came up. The super aggressive player who had been raising $5 before every flop, raised $5 in first position and it was folded to me in the small blind. I called his raise with pocket 3s knowing that if i hit a third 3 i would win a very big pot. The big blind folded and the flop came 5 5 3 and i bet out 10 knowi
  12. Yeah the whole concept of relative M is in Volume 2 of Dan Harrington's book
  13. My math isnt wrong because at this time it was six handed and at short tables you use the concept of "relative M" which means i am multiplying my "M" by .6 which gives me a "relative M" of 3.
