I've been looking everywhere for information on whether this video game for the xbox will be backwards compatible with the xbox 360. I remember coming across an article by a developer a month ago or so saying that they had no plans for it. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't want to open this game up for the consumers of the xbox 360. Especially discouraged since the xbox 360 has a great online area.I guess I shouldn't worry, as the game keeps getting pushed back, that by the time it is released, the free Texas Hold Em game will be available to all 360 users.I was looking forward to this game, but I can't find current info on it anywhere. Not even Planet Stacked has information on whether it will be backwards compatible or not. I thought this game would save us console poker players from the crappy titles already available, but I fear this game will be too little, too late without next-gen support. :club:

The whole backwards compatibility issue is a complete mess. I don't want to make this post too long, so just suffice to say that none of the game publishers know prior to releasing an Xbox game whether or not it will be compatible with the 360 when they ship it.It is completely up to Microsoft after the fact to work on tweaking the game and offering a patch to ensure compatibility.Trust me when I tell you that the publishers all want their games to be compatible and if they could assure the buying public ahead of time they would, but they can't, so they don't.Basically you will have to wait until it is released and cross your fingers. The reason the game keeps getting pushed back is due to the online component for the PS2 version. It has not yet passed the approval process at Sony and the company wants to ship all 4 versions at the same time. The Xbox version is complete and has been approved by Microsoft, so as weird as it sounds the hold-up is Sony. Right now it looks like it will be released sometime in April, but stay tuned.

Why was the choice made to not make a 360 version? Even if not for a straight over port of the xbox180 version.
Ummmm, if it's that simple then why not do all the games like that? When the architecture changes that much, it's not that simple.

Probably because it was supposed to be released like 3 years before the 360 came out.

I know it's not simple. I'm only asking why they chose not to make it for the 360. Stacked is supposed to be about the online play, that's what I keep hearing, but they are ignoring the 360 with this game, which has the best online capabilities of all console systems. This doesn't make sense to me, which is why I am asking questions. If they are making it for 4 systems, why not 5, if for nothing else but to include the next generation of consoles?

There are most likely several reasons but I will speculate as to the most likely which is the lack of installed base. A title like Stacked will not sell like a Call of Duty, Ghost Recon or Madden on any system and when you have to spend the development dollars on a system that only has approximately 700k installed with a title that is not a mega hit it does not make sense financially. There are 34 Million PS2's, and 14 Million Xboxes in North America. No idea how many pc's but probably somewhere in the 100 Million range so that's why they are not doing it for Xbox 360.If and only if Microsoft can fix their supply issues quickly there MIGHT be around 10 Million units installed in North America by this time next year. I can tell you though that this will not be fixed soon as we are hearing that it will continue to be horribly allocated until May or June.Well I am off to Atlantic City so I will check back with you fine folks on Monday.

Have you been there? I have asked there. That board is dead.as far as shortages, I see them all the time. not in electronic stores, but small to medium town walmarts, targets, k-marts, etc. They are out there, and shipments are getting more and more frequent. I understand, though, I suppose. Although it's hard to point fingers at xbox 360's release when we are discussing a game that was supposed to come out six months ago :club:
