serious advice needed from all you online experts

Recommended Posts

Have been playing poker for about a year and a half now, started playing and studying seriously about about a year ago (when I joined FCP actually). I'm young, I'm a quick learner and I reallly feel like I have a good knack for the game. I definitely come from the age where the first game you play is NLHE. I have played a bit of LimitHE with some mild success up to the 2-4 level, and a little PLO, but 95% of my play has been in NLHE My problem is that I ****ing suck at online NL cash games. I don't get it. I'm posting great profits playing 1-2NL at a local club with a bunch of old and i'd say quite good players. I absolutely destroy some fairly high stakes home games wiht my friends (the 100NL level or something like that). I've become more loose aggressive as I gain experience but I realize that that simply won't work at the lower limits online. In fact I've had more succes the higher I play. I've done much better at 1-2 sh then i have at .10-.25 full ring. I realize that you have to adapt depending on the game you're playing, and I'm a master of that Live, and I feel like I'm doing it to at Online, but I still seem to lose. Is it because it is easier to tilt or what? I've been very successful at sng's and mtts, but I always go back to the cash games because I know that's where the money is. So what should I do....just quit online altogether, quit online NL cash games alltogether. Take up limit holdem? Help me out guys. Thanks

don't move up to 1-2 until you can beat the .10-.25 game. saying you can't beat the micro limits and then claiming that you can beat 1-2 online just shows you haven't gotten enough hands in at 1-2. play about 3k hands at .10-.25 or until you have atleast 30 buy ins for .25-.50 and then move up. jumping around in stakes you can't handle is going to get you nowhere but broke every time.

I'm saying I'm too aggressive for the lower stakes games. I don't think I adjust properly. I'm worse against people who call me down with 3rd pair.

I second what stealfromtheblind said. I used to think the same way to a degree and i was so wrong. If your losing at NL cash games and your beating the MTT's and SnG's. Im betting that your playing too aggresively in the NL cash games. It took me a while to adapt my SnG strategy to NL cash games and im still not very good maybe a marginal winner at the .5/1 level. Personally i like the action and being farily aggresive so i play the shorthandedlimit holdem where one mistake isn't gonna cost me my whole stack. So maybe you should give this a try or you could try playing the shorthanded NL tables but im not sure whether that would help. Or you could just stick to playing SnG's and MTT's. There is still consistent money to be made playing tournaments especially SnG's. MTTs are good if you make that big cash but that can take a while.
