mrpokejoke matusow can't be acknowledged

Recommended Posts

I watched Mike "Full Tilt" Matusow (MrPokeJoke) take down a 1000 FPP satellite on Pokerstars... not long before the series began, his name was removed form the winners list...I guess the tilters don't want to admit that PS is the best tourney and satellite site... :)What will PS do if Mikey wins???The marketing wars are on!!!

Maybe PS removed his name because he's not wearing their logo. Too bad for him he didn't qualify through FullTilt. They offered a $10M bonus to anyone who wins the main event that qualified on their site.

I never really understood the point of them doing that..Can someone explain it to me from their point of view?-fop

I think it's just a way to get people playing in their WSOP qualifiers. The house makes a good amount of juice from satellites, and it's highly unlikely they'll have to pay out the $10M. Even if they do, FullTilt will become famous as home of the WSOP champ.

The 10 Million is insured for less than a million...plus whoever wins it will be their advertising slave for 10 years...lolIt's a great marketing investment, either way.

The full tilt $10 mil bonus shouldn't be allowed by the WSOP. If a full tilt player was heads up at the end of this year's tourney he could pay his opponent 5 mil to lose, and they'd both make out well. Actually I'm not sure why anyone would care (maybe ESPN), but it's an interesting scenario.

That's what I was planning to do if I qualified through FullTilt made it to the final table of the WSOP. I don't think it would be a problem. People make deals in tournies all the time.

He seems a little full of himself
Mike is a loud mouth jerk who thinks he is soooooo tough. How in the hell can you root for a guy like that? I feel terrible that DN had such a rough go in WSOP that guy deserves everthing he wins. A true gentleman, did you see how he took the spotlight of himself and congratulated Humberto for being such a great player? CLASS that sums it up in a word. God help us if the "mouth" wins this thing.

funny that Mike is still a friend of DN's even though he is a "loud mouth jerk"

Mike probably cashed the entry from Stars since he is an employee of FullTilt and playing for them. He has been wearing FTP gear and may have even been put into the event by them.As far as the 10 mil. deal it is basically an endorsement contract. You get 1mil for 10 years and are required to attend events, do commercials, play on the site, and are not allowed to endorse any other poker site's. Stars still pays both Raymer and Moneymaker so it is essentially the same deal FTP just advertised it better to appear to be a real bonus.

First off...in any big promotion be it "throw a strike" or " kick a field goal" or whatever...the company takes out insurance against someone winning. That way they pay the insurance premium onlySecond...how do you play in one of their tournys to qualify? You make a deposit ! Draw more players...have more action...action draws more players...rinse and repeat.Third...with PS sending back to back winners FT needed to cut into their market share.Fourth...I am sure that if anyone won they would be required to sign an agreement giving FT the rights to their image and to use them in any ad they want. God knows PS is won't stop running the ad with Moneymaker. I could keep going...but I am on my way to the Reno Hilton For the morning tourny...and I hope you get the idea.Have a nice day !

Actually, if you read the terms of the FullTilt $10m offer, they give you $1m each year, but you have to play 10 hours a week on the site. Essentially, they're making you a FullTilt pro and the $10m isn't a bonus, but a salary.

sounds like a sweet deal to mei wouldnt mind someone staking me a mil a year and not expecting a percentage of my winnings.
