I'm heading back to St. Louis from Dallas, and have decided to hit Shreveport for the first time. I usually stop at Cherokee in Tulsa, but the game selection isn't great, and the rake annoys me(2 from the first ten, then a dollar for every 10 up to 5max). Does anyone have any suggestions on the best places to play? I'll be there for the weekend at least. I'm looking for $200-300 buyin games, so 1-2 NL or 5-10 LHE. I'd also like to play some cheap(30-70) tournaments. Also I'd like to stay at a casino, but I don't want to pay more than 60 bucks a night. On the weekend that will probably be tough. Online I've seen 80-200. I've heard about poker player room rates in Tunica, and was curious if there was anything like that anyone knew about in Shreveport. I'll be playing 10-14+ hour sessions, so I'll definitely qualify. It's not a huge deal, as I'll just be sleeping in the room. I'm not above a Motel 6, so I'm not going to waste a lot of time looking around for a room. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, andwww.google.com has already been consulted, so the cute ones can save their cleverness.

I happen to think that el dorado has the best card room in shreveport. It's where we play when we go from dallas. Max buy in to the 1-2 is $150, but great drunk pickings on the weekend.

I play at the Horseshoe about once a month. For limit, there's always 4-8 available. For no limit, they have 2-5. You'll get a wide variety of players - everything from super tight to super aggressive. In general, the no limit is pretty loose.A loose example -- I saw a guy call call $300 pre flop, $400 after flop, and $600 after turn with nothing but AK. He hit an Ace on the river to beat pocket nines. The same night another guy called me pre flop for $180 with 6-8 offsuit, and ended up cracking my pocket kings. Beware: there are some local players who would laugh at Doyle's super system as being too tight. But if you aren't careful, they'll send you home wih an empty wallet.

and I have heard it has gone down hill since the name change. Horseshoe is where all my friends go. I like the El Dorado, if anything, for the high cielings and the smoke not being all around me

I agree. Once you realize that you might get beat, and don't let the bad beat get you down or tilted, you can beat them regular, um, ly.

I was just there this week...Personally, I'd rather play at the El Dorado as well for the cash game...as already mentioned the drunk fishies were primed to be removed from their money... :)as for tournies.. El Dorado is running $100 + $25 SNGs 23 hours a day (and a $300 + $25)... 10 people, top 2 get paid 70%/30%...Horseshoe runs several tournies through the week on Mondays at 6pm and Wednesdays at 11am, they have a $60 + $15 tourney.. with $40 rebuys for the first hour and a half... had about 150 in this Monday and I made the final 2 tables, but went out in 15th... only top 10 get paid... :club:

Thanks for the input, looks like I'll try the ElDorado Saturday night, then explore a bit on sunday. I'm not paying 25% juice for a SNG, but the monday tournament looks ok, with a rebuy and addon.
