I chose a Day 3 start (easily the most populated day right now) because I think that if I can make it through my day 1, having two/three days off before my day 2 is better than five days off. Since I suck at the online sattelites apparently (I envy all of you who are able to get in that way), I had to be creative and "win my seat" at the craps tables. After a successful weekend, I am free rolling into the main thanks to the lovely people at the Bellagio. :)Just a side note...there were already 5,214 people signed up for the main event as of 3:00 PM this afternoon!!! Ridiculorious! I wonder if they'll make 9000, if the final 2 tableists will each get a million in winnings, and how strangve it's going to be to be past the bubble with almost 1000 people remaining in the tournament. They certainly have gotten the better of me over time in the pit.However, it's only fair to caution everyone, that playing non poker games is -EV. Sure you can win from time to time. And I genuinely am happy that someone was able to acquire 10k and put it toward their buy in. But these days, a lot of people are playing outside of their br, going way into debt, etc. There is a time and a place for taking shots. Just to illustrate this point on the other end of the spectrum. A few years ago, I was playing 10-20 nlhe at Bellagio. After suffering a healthy loss. Some of it was due to poor play on my part, some it was well ya know. I promptly went over to the black jack tables. This is something that I can't do in LA. I easily doubled my loss in a matter of minutes. Was I foolish for doing that? Absolutely. In fact many of those great poker players you have seen on TV have gone bust very often playing in the pit.So again, I genuinely am happy that Al won his seat in a roundabout way. I chose day 4 as my starting day so that, assuming that I win the main event, I'll play a day, have a day off, play a day, have a day off, then I'll play the next six consecutive days.I haven't received an e-mail or mailed confirmation so I'll call the cage in the morning to confirm that the check has been received and that my entry has been processed.I'll play a satellite on Monday the 24th, and if I win a seat, I hope to sell it. I wanted to mail the check, though, because I heard that the number of entries was getting big and I didn't want to fly out and not play.The info on the WSOP website says that mailed checks must be received no later than two weeks before the start of the main event. The pit can be gracious or brutal, but as Steve has said, best steered away from. There's a story about one LA pro, I forget his name, who took all his tournament winnings and blew it all on blackjack. He hit on a 21 at one point, when he was down to his last 50k or so claiming the casino could never beat him. It's a rumor, don't know if true, but the pit can own you, and make you do insane things.In LA, they blow it all on Pai Gow.In the 1500 event, a buddy of mine doubled through the Grinder last night, a little after the dinner break.
