My Unbelievable Bad Luck

Recommended Posts

I was at my local casino playing Hold Em, and the bad beat jackpot was $16,000. ( You haveto lose when you have Aces Full of anything to get 50% of the jackpot.) I had pocket 3's, the flop comes A A 3. So, I'm slow playing my boat, then the turn comes a 2 ( No big deal ). I start betting on the turn, and two other guys are STILL calling me. Now for the river... ANOTHER Ace.So, my 3's full of Aces goes turns into Aces full of 3's. I start betting big now, and BOTH remaining players call me. Turns out one guy has 4 Aces... so that makes me the BAD BEAT!! Right??WRONG. The 3rd guy had pocket 8's... (Giving him Aces full of 8's .. OUCH) so HE ENDED UP GETTING the 8,000 dollars!! Unbelievable! I still ended up getting 500.00 just for being in the pot though.WHAT A CRAZY GAME.

let me tell you a storybad luck is when you hold pocket queens and the flop is AKQ and the next card is king, and you know for a fact no one has AK because of the way it was played, so you get all your chips in, just to get called by a retard person with Ace 10 and the river is a king, so the board reads, A K Q K K and your QQ is garbage, and you don't even win a bad beat, you just lose 400 dollars, there is bad luck for you

Bad luck is when you have Quad 6's and they're killed by Quad Aces. That's some $%it luck. Flop is 6 6 A - Turn A river 9. I was hoping someone had any ace. Also when you have PpQ, Flop comes Q99, Guess what the other person has?! 99. Also, bad luck is when you're holding KK and the flop comes K2A... AA also happens to be in the hand with you. Gaddang early limpers! :evil:Internet Poker is bad... :lol:This is why whenever I see a bad beat, I say, "They Got Full Tilted" since all 3 of these hands happened to be on Full Tilt. The one really bad beat I had in a card room was when I had 10 :) 10 :D Flop came A :) 10 :D 7 :) I bet, I get a raise and 3 callers, I re raise. The other player goes all in, 2 players fold and the last hits the tank for a while (He had J :) 10 :)), then folds. I call. He has A :D 3 :) . Turn is a 3 :D and the river is an A :club: I just got up, said, "Good hand." Then walked away.I've given more bad beats than I've gotten, but I don't seem to remember those as well

Yeah, eight-thousand dollars would have been nice.. But when you say bad luck, I'm not so sure. I know I've never won $500 when showing down with the third worst hand. Something to think about.

In a nutshell the pot broke down like this :Bad beat = 50% ( 8,000 dollars )Winner = 25% ( 4, 000 dollars )The remaining 25% is split up between everyone else who was dealtin the hand. ( @ 500.00 a piece ).Its a progressive pot, and it happened to be 16,000 today. I've seen some upwards of 50,000 dollars. :D:) I haven't hit any of those ...... yet 8)

The worst beat I ever suffered was:I'm in a NL tournament, and I look down to see 9c/9d. I raise to 120 from the big blind of 40. Everyone folds, one caller.Flop comes down 9s/9h/10c.In my mind I hear "OH GOD QUADS!". I get really eager and fire out a bet of 120. Re-raised to 300, I re-raise back to 500. Called.Turn brings a 2h. Whoop-de-do. That makes the board 9s/9h/10c/2h. I check, he bets 250. I re-raise to 400, he calls. I'm not thinking about a thing. The river brings 10h. Making the board show 9s/9h/10c/2h/10h. I bet out 200, he re-raises to 600, I push all-in for my last 1250, he immediately calls.Smugly, I turn over my Quad 9's and I'm about to get up and rake in, but he turns over 10s/10d. QUAD TENS! HOW?! WHY ME?! AHHHH?! Needless to say, I was knocked out of the tournament, and finished one spot behind the money. It took me a couple of weeks before I returned to the poker scene.

My favorite 'bad beat' was mentioned in Super/System to show how funky Hold'Em can be. Doyle didn't see it but apparently it was the talk of one of the WSOPs. Here's the hand:Player A: J:spade:- J:heart: Player B: K:club:-Q:club: Flop: J:club:-3:club:-3:diamond: So player A has Jacks full and Player B just has a flush draw that's no good.Turn: 3:heart: for a board of J:club:-3:club:-3:diamond:-3:heart:Player B is drawing dead, right. WRONGRiver: 3-:D for a final board of J:club:-3:club:-3:diamond:-3:heart:-3:spade:Player A only has the board of quad tres with a jack kicker and Player B has quad tres with a king kicker. A was (appropriately) slow-playing it and called in frustration on the end. While that's not quite the worst possible bad beat, that has to be just about the worst feeling in the world.

Yah I had quad Quens on the flop once and some guy with A6o caught a backdoor four of a kind on me even after I was betting max before then.... *sigh*The other day I floped trips only to be rivered by a royal flush :?

I have been beaten by a straight flush with quad Aces. I was betting pretty big but appearantly not big enough since someone with 23s stayed in the hand. (I had AA.) I don't remember exactly when things fell into place but the last card was 5 of the suit. It was was like why the hell did you stay in. He said, "Oh, this is my favorite hand."

I'll tell what I think would be real bad luck. Assume the pair of eights was not in the pot. Then the casino can rule that you did not win the jackpot. You did not use the two threes in your hand, since you used the three on the board. Then you would have a real hard luck story.

Not a terrible Beat, but in one game I flopped the nut flush, A :) 10 :) Flop 5 :D q:diamond: k :) Turn 9 :) River 6 :) Board was: 5 :) q :) k :club: 9 :D 6 :D I was getting raised through the flop turn then the river, one guy who was calling down the raises capped it (Limit holdem). I didn't put anyone on the straight flush, but alas... My ace high flush and the guy betting into me (J :) 4 :) ) were beaten by 7 :D 8 :) A monster pot and I can understand why the guy was just calling down, he had the flush too and for only $1/$2 limit I would call down too. Backdoored it on me, but still, I liked the guy so I had no problems losing that pot. (Though I kinda wish the J :D fell, turned out it was dead)An interesting hand considering 3 of us caught the flush on the flop, the board was a flush K high. I've never had so many people in my hand that all caught a monster on the flop like that, I've seen other hands where 2 people had the sucker straight and 2 others had the nuts (Which by the way, was just insane). Those kinds of hands are just ones you kind of just have to take it like a man. Thank god it was limit though :lol:Gotta love the Hard Rock! Seemed like almost every Diamond was in play on that hand... What are the odds of hands like that?? Never seen so many of the same damn suit before in my life! I think the only cards that weren't in play were the 2:diamond: and the 3:diamond: - We promptly asked the dealer to change decks and to shuffle this time... That almost seemed fixed :shock:But really, what are the odds that 3 people flop the flush, and then the turn and the river are 2 cards of the same suit?! Has that EVER happened to any of you before?

Actually you are wrong... I did ask the casino about this... and they said that I am playing the pocket pair ( in my hand ) not the 3 on the board. At first I was worried that it would be the other way also.... very good comment.

Slow playing 33 with a flop of AA3 is very dangerous. I'm not saying its a terrible play, but if you bet it, you're going to action from any ace. If you bet and this guy raises, the guy with pocket 8s doesnt stay in (Not sure why he did anyway). Regardless, you should have slowed down after the third ace came off, not started betting bigger. Of course, the obvious question is why would the guy with 4 aces just call?

:D  8) I'm in a micro-limit NL Hold Em' game online and I wake up to AA unsuited and raise. I have one caller and the flop comes, AKK, I check, the caller bets and I call with my A's full of K's the turn is a blank I bet small trying to set the trap for the river and he calls. The river is a K! and I love it now I still have aces full of kings. He makes a medium size bet and I go all-in he thinks for a long time, for show I guess and calls. The Ba$tard had the fourth K for the Quad! GRRR!lolWhat did I do wrong? How could I put him on Quad Kings?

I would have been scared if the AA was suited! :) To comment on the topic...You really didnt have much of a chance at winning that jackpot unless the other guy had a 2, or was in there for some reason with no pair! You should have layed it down on the river. :D

His medium size bet should have told you 3 things,1) he has the 4th ace, (which you beat)2) he's got the quads (likely because you've been calling him down and he hasnt slowed, and it seems he wanted you to call his last bet since it was medium sized)3) he has no idea what he's doing and hes trying to bluff, maybe with a lower pocket pairThink about going all in over the top of him, I don't know for how much but that information would be good to know.If he has the 4th ace, there's a very good chance he is calling. If he has the 4th king, you're screwed. If he's bluffing or is weak, he isn't calling, which means you are risking tons of chips, and winning the same amount you would win if you just called.Yea, it's a really tough decision but you are risking a lot when you might be behind or get no money out of it...

 Duh, Yea I should of thought he had pocket Kings because 2 K's and a Ace were onthe board so when the 2nd Ace came on the river I just overplayed my Aces full! The funny part is that I was trying to slow play my hand from 2 pair Aces and Kings after the flop and he eas slow playing his Quad Kings from the get go! Wow!Thanks for your comments, next time I won't risk my whole stack! BBB

Your bad beat with getting busted over someone having Quad K's in a normal live tournament would be devastating. However, when you play on line.... I know personally I have taken more bad beats more often than none. The cards just don't fall like this in real Life.........Bad Beats do happen in real Life... however just not like they do with On Line poker.Good Luck !!!!! :D

:D Thanks for your words of wisdom and it feels like your right! I see so many quads on line it seems impossibile. Oh I know everyone says it's all random and it is from what I've seen. BUT what if sometimes the computer gives you a little "Rush" just to keep you playing? The Rake is King!Untill the Govt. get's it's head out of it's butt and taxes and regulates on line gaming, anything is possibile,NO? 8)Share your thoughts with me,Amigo!

You are absolutely right... until the Gov. gets their hands on On-Line Gaming.... we will never know how "random" the RNG is....I can't tell you how many times... I have flopped a Ace High Str8 ON THE FLOP.... only to be beat by a freakin' flush on the RIVER.... I wanted to throw my computer right through the window.Also.. with On line poker... so MANY stay in the hands when statistically they should have folded along time ago..... those "jackels" will play anything.Happy Holidays !!!!!

:hand: Ram,Close but not exactly what I mean.Example : I only had a 1/2 hour to play A~5 Low Ball Triple Draw so I sit in a penny game for fun. I think the computer said oh boy here's a "Prop" to save this 3 handed game so we will let the new guy win enough to stay and keep the game going.I don't even know if UB takes a rake on .01-.01games but the software does not care so it is the same deal in all size and type of cash ring games...I think! OK I win the 1st hand with a pat bike A~5 the Holy City of low Ball!Nobody folds much in this penny game so I bet the limit all the way and all 3 call, I stack .25 cents or 25% then I win with all 1 card draws all but a few hands against all large stacks between $3 to $6 dollars! I can't stop for 45 min.'s after that, till I hit the wall.By that time 2 other players sat down and my rush stoped dead! That was fine with me since I had to go! You might try this short table, with a short stack approach and tell me if it works! It seems to work 4 out of 5 times in my 50 cent and 1.00 game but I smash and gram 10 to 20 bucks and leave! Fast!lol funny ha haBe Lucky = Labor Under Correct Knowledge! BigBoyBill BBB out
