The Goal: to turn $5 into $1,000 by playing like a fish. The Rules: I will play until I lose $20 from the original Bankroll I had. I can move up limits in Sit n Go's whenever I feel like (after all the number one thing fish dont know is bankroll management). I dont have to play strictly sit N go's, I can play cash games also (whatever limit). The only thing I do have to follow, is that I HAVE TO PLAY LIKE A FISH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. The Objective: to see when the dreaded "variance" will strike upon me. Well, today I managed to play 2 $5 sit n go's I busted in 8th or sumthing for the first one, in the second game I got 2nd!! I'm awesome...this first hand is the one where i busted, the rest are from the second game...enjoy I have A,3 :spades:PRE-FLOPtakemycash9 calls $30,MP1 calls $30, MP2 calls $30,Button bets $150, bAmNtAnK2064 folds, sgtcarl calls $120, takemycash9 calls $120, DutchVader folds, jim211 calls $120.FLOP [board cards 4S,KD,AC ]sgtcarl bets $100, takemycash9 calls $100, jim211 folds, KellenP folds.TURN [board cards 4S,KD,AC,8D ]sgtcarl bets $250, takemycash9 calls $250.RIVER [board cards 4S,KD,AC,8D,3C ]sgtcarl checks, takemycash9 bets $730 and is all-in, sgtcarl calls $670 and is all-in.SHOWDOWNtakemycash9 shows [ AS,3S ]----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Seat 8: in bb takemycash9 [5S,KH] blinds 10-20PRE-FLOPMP1 calls $20, MP2 calls $20, SB bets $30, takemycash9 calls $20, MP1 calls $20, MP2 calls $20.FLOP [board cards KS,QD,2C ]SB checks, takemycash9 bets $60, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $60, SB calls $60.top pair, obvious betTURN [board cards KS,QD,2C,JD ]SB checks, takemycash9 bets $150, MP2 calls $150, SB folds.RIVER [board cards KS,QD,2C,JD,KD ]takemycash9 checks, MP2 checks. obvious check/raise all in here, unfortunately the dude has nuthin SHOWDOWNtakemycash9 shows [ 5S,KH ]SB mucks cards [ AC,4S ]takemycash9 wins $640.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Seat 8: takemycash9 [KH,2H] ($1,215 in chips)PRE-FLOPtakemycash9 calls $20, MP2 calls $20, Button bets $200, SB calls $190, BB folds, takemycash9 calls $180, MP2 calls $180.FLOP [board cards 9C,8C,KD ]SBchecks, takemycash9 checks, MP2 checks, Button checks. here I have no kicker and although i have top pair Id rather check call downTURN [board cards 9C,8C,KD,JC ]SB checks, takemycash9 bets $175,MP2 folds, Button calls $175, thekid2x folds. bet here cuz no one bet the flop, not the fishiest of plays, but IMHO betting 1/4th the pot with complete disregard to the possible everything (str8, flush) on the board, with top pair no kicker is fishy enough..feel free to critique my play as I feel it could use some improvement RIVER [board cards 9C,8C,KD,JC,4H ]takemycash9 checks, Jo_holliday bets $600, takemycash9 calls $600. the typical check because im scared call because I have top pair play SHOWDOWNButton shows [ AD,QC ]takemycash9 shows [ KH,2H ]takemycash9 wins $2,370. nice big pot, again not the fishiest play in the book but certainly missplayed (I probably would've won less money by playing it correctly) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Seat 8: takemycash9 [10C,10D] ($2,575 in chips) blinds 15/30 PRE-FLOPUTG bets $60, MP1 calls $60, takemycash9 bets $150, UTG calls $90, MP1 calls $90. just noticed I reraised, I thought I was just raising 5 times the BB, anyway..borderline fish play, some people would call some would rr, what would you do?FLOP [board cards 4H,KC,QC ]UTG checks,MP1 checks, takemycash9 checks. obvious check TURN [board cards 4H,KC,QC,6H ]UTG checks, MP1 checks, takemycash9 checks. I can't wait for you to get up to $125 so you can roll a $100 SNG. :club:

I'll tell you what..I will spend 15 min. of each day watching the $25 NL cash games. I dont think you all read my retaliation post. It basically says that a lot of people are confusing fish with a retard, IMO they know what they watch on T.V. thats all.http://www.fullconta...5189&highlight=

DKE, I know what you mean when you describe fish as very passive, but I have to say that you're wrong about it.I don't have a proper bankroll, and so play A LOT of freerolls to supplement it. The fishiest trait, in my opinion, is bluffing EVERY SINGLE TIME it's checked to them. Sometimes, I think they know about late position bluffing, but then I realise that they consider a check to be a signed affadavit stating that the checker does not have any hand whatsoever. It's uncanny. They'll go all-in with nothing if it's checked to them sometimes. Not just in freerolls, either. Cheap SNGs provide similar results. Often fish will bet half a stack if after the flop it's checked to them. I do mean often.CTPS: I understand this experiment is not fishy, though. Fish bluff WAY more. I think that many fish believe the difference between a losing player and a winning player is that a winning player "circumvents luck" by winning pots when they don't have a hand. They believe all players are equal, and therefore the cards determine winnings. With this mindset, a bluff is the only way to gain an edge. Makes me money, though, so I'm happy.

someone mentioned how much they would love to see the chat dialogues from these hands, and though I agree they must be great, I find the inner dialogue between your normal self and your fish alter-ego to be the nicest touch. It's hilarious to see the actual difference in the way of thinking between a solid player and a fish. and it's funny, but you may be on to something. there's a lot of "great" players on here who whine about bad beats at the hands of fish play, but maybe the answer is to out-fish the fish? now THAT would be a revelation!

Leafs: I think you're joking, but in case you aren't:Fish give so many people so many bad beats because there are tons of them. I'm sure a lot of them bust a few hours later and are never heard from again. Playing more like that is only a recipe for failure.I am delighted that this experiment is currently showing profit, because it is amazingly fun to read about, but it is certainly not profitable play.CT

It's not just a "fish" trait. Sometimes I can check a flop with a huge hand and get a good, but super-agressive person to bet huge on the flop... if it is heads up. Usually they have AK or something close. pS. I really never call anyone a fish. On the chain of the poker, unless you are one of the top players in the world, there will be people calling YOU the fish.

I have never seen a fish check/raise, for the record. If a fish hits trips with a rag kicker, he check/calls because he's worried the other guy has trips with a higher kicker. I've even seen fish fold boats to a raise because they were worried the other guy's full house was higher.I've been reading since Day 1, and I love this experiment. Your fish play started out um....un-fishy, but is progressing. The K-7 hearts "because they were suited" and the A-2 all-in are classic.Keep up the good work.

Btw, a true fish will buy in for 5 dollars at a 25 NL table and 10 dollars at a 50 NL table(when I first started I bought for 5 dollars at a 25 NL table with my 50 dollar bankroll-which I lost way before I found this site or anything :club:)
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Patience, my friend...wait till my fish play reaches expert level and my Bankroll grows, then It will become interesting whe I start sucking out the $200 NL cash games. Right now its tough to look like a true fish when I'm playing with a bunch of fish..hopefully I will make some progress this weekend and I plan to hit the 1k mark (or go broke, which is more likely) within 2 weeks or less (fish either win a lot of money fast or go broke fast, because of crappy b.r. management)..anyway, it might get good the way things are going (I've made more in SNG's than I do with my regular tight strategy)
