Good, I now I will sleep knowing at least someone else thinks a fold is an ok play as well. Turns out if I'd called or raised I would've probably won the tourney. It ended up being a huge pot, but both players had nothing. A high won from the BB, the raiser had KQ. I woulda flopped top pair with a 10 and rivered a 9 for top 2. Looking back, I think if I'd noticed that he only had 300 left I woulda just 3-bet it to 1200, and probably gone heads up with him. Thanks for the input, Wallacer

Just got knocked out of a satellite on the bubble, losing sleep over one hand, wondering if you guys think I made a bad fold.5 players left, LHE tourney. I'm 2nd or 3rd in chips, pretty even field, blinds are getting dangerous at 200 - 400 (only a 20 person satellite). I'm SB with 9 10 . Folds to player before button (CO?). He has played tight so far (hasn't raised yet preflop), and makes a raise to 800. button folds. I almost call, didn't realise he only had about 300 left. Folded the 200 though, and BB called. I have to agree here. I win at NL using similar strategy on other sites, but at pokerstars, every time my opponent has an out, there is is on the river. Nut flush on the turn, pot raise to me, I push all in (sizeable raise over the pot). Set becomes quads on the river. Push all in with KK, A4o calls, A on the turn, etc. It really sucks because this is already such a boring way to play, it's like fishing, hours of boredom for a brief bit of excitement. Yes that is what they're talking about. Also, I agree that pokerstars is terrible for that. I can't play the NL cash games on it, it's too painful. Everytime, I have an overpair, some jackass with a J6 calls a 2x pot bet, then an all in, and sucks out a J for 2 pair on the river! EVERY TIME! I wouldn't recommend pokerstars. It's the only site that I've not managed to profit off. I'm not saying you won't have some bad beats elsewhere, but they seem much less frequent, and playing correctly is rewarded at other sites. I'm on my worst ever right now and have gotten to the point where I think I'm promoting my own unlucky streak through bad play. For example, my coworkers usually hold a poker game every 2 weeks. Someone said that NYC charges for chair time. I know nothing about that, but a rake is usually based on the size of the pot, not how long you're sitting at the table. 5% to a max of 5$ is usually pretty average I believe, so:pot <10$ rake 0$10$<=pot<20$ rake 50cents20$<=pot<30$ rake 1$so on and soforth until the pot is 100$ and you reach the max rake of 5$. I guess this doesn't apply to you though if you aren't raking each pot. Couldn't help you with chair time, but I'm surprised at that system. Ya, I'm 3-betting that flop for sure. It'll slow everyone else down and hopefully cheapen your draw. Odd's are you aren't best facing 2 cold, but it's cheap to 3bet on the flop, and it could buy you a free river.

The button likely still bumps it, meaning the price for you is the same whether you call 2 cold, or lead out and bet. It's simple as this,you're not going into the flop ahead of anyone who calls your raise, so why bother? This is limit poker. The way to make a profit with suited connectors is to see cheap flops, hope for a nice draw, fold with minimal loss if you miss, or play your draw if the pot odds justify it (they often will in limit).
