  1. The live poker situation in Colorado sucks. My parents live in Boulder, so there might be illegal cardrooms in Denver that I don't know about, but all the casinos are up in Blackhawk, which is about 45 min. west in the mountains. However, there is a 5$ maximum bet law, so all the cash games are either 2-5 or 5-5 spread limit, which is retard poker. For tournaments, go to the Gilpin Casino, which has three daily. You can find the schedule at www.thegilpincasino.com . Weekdays they have smaller buy ins (30-100), and on the weekends they're bigger. The best live action in the 5-5 game at the Lodg
  2. Like every one else, said, the strip is only like 20 minutes away, so you definitely have time to put in a session.I was there a few weeks ago though, and I left at 6:AM on a Monday morning, and the security line was fairly lengthy. 30 minutes is definitely not enough time to leave yourself at the end, an hour should be good though.
  3. I saw Jennifer Harman at the Venetian two weekends ago. She walked right by my table, and she definitely did not look 6 months pregnant. That is usuallly pretty noticeable, so it sounds like a joke respnse to the usual stupid questions from the railbirds on full tilt.
  4. When I was in Vegas last weekend I was at the Bellagio and watched him at his latest final table for a little while. Couldn't see the cards, but he was playing three handed with Nam Le and the older guy who won it. A buddy was in a satellite, and we were not allowed to get close enough to realky see anything, but Joe Sebok and Amnon Filippi were railing it. Looks from the results that the older guy won it, but I did not watch for very long.
  5. There is something like this in Eugene, Oregon, where I go to school, but it is way better. It is called Full House Poker, and opened in November of last year. Apparently it is legal here to run poker games as long as the house doesn't take a rake, so they go around this by charging a membership fee ($100/year) and they take 5% of your buyin (Buy in for 160, get 152 in chips). The dealers work only for tips, so they don't even have to pay them. The game is almost alway 1/2 no limit, but they'll spread anything where you can get a full table above that. They have six tables, with usually around
  6. This is an interesting hand from a live tournament I played the other night. 60 dollar buy in with one 30 dollar rebuy. 24 entries, we are down to final six, only top 3 get paid. Here are the approximate chip counts with the blinds at 5000-10000UTG - 150000, Me - 55000, CO - 30000, Buttin - 5000, SB - 30000, BB - 200000UTG folds, I get AK off and push for my 55 thou. CO calls, Button Calls, SB folds, and the big stack starts thinking, he flips over pocket nines and eventually calls. The two short stacks had KJ off and AJ off. None of us catch anything and are all busted, wiht me being bubble bo
  7. Here's my best straight flush story. I was playing live 1/2 no limit, it was raised to 10 preflop with like five callers, and i called with theQ J out of the small blind. Flop comes K 10 9 . I check, as does everyone else to the button, who bets 25. I smooth call, and everyone else folds. Turn blank, i check and so does he. River is a king, i bet out 25 he raises another 25, and I put him all in for another 150 or so. He calls, and had 99 for the rivered boat. Flopping a straight flush is hard enough, and geting paid on it is even harder, so congrats to the op.
  8. I'm back in Colorado visiting my parents for a week, so I decided to drive up to the casinos in Blackhawk, about 40 minutes away. In Colorado there is a five dollar max bet, so the games are all 2-5 spread limit, which is probably the most retarded form of poker I've ever played. However, if you play tight and get lucky you can win money from the people who play every hand.So about 45 minutes after I sat down, there was a raise and a reraise preflop, and it came down J-A-J. After a bunch of betting down to the river, at showdown the reraiser preflop asked, "do you have the quads?" and the old
  9. I was playing on Full Tilt tonight, and there was a guy named Golgo13 sitting at both my tables. I noticed he was playing almost no hands whatsoever, and then he went all in preflop for a full buy in twice, and the second time he busted a guy when he had KK.I remembered reading on here about Smash's strategy, and it looked like what he was doing, so I asked him on one table if he was using it. He got up and left immediately, so I said something to him about it on the other table, and he left just as quick.Since I knew what he was doing, i guess I shouldn't have told him, but I don't really wan
  10. The first time you play no limit in a casinio is definitely an exciting experience. I remember the first time I played, it was 2/5 with 200 max buy in. after about 45 min of sittling tight I got all my money in on the flop with two pair vs, a fluch draw. He hit the flush on the turn and thenI hit the boat on the river for a 500 dollar pot, and I diefinitely almost **** myself.
  11. Laying down aces sucks, but sometimes you have to do it, even in a cash game. In fact, the last two times I've had them in a cash game, I had to do it. The first time I was playing 3/6 at the local casino, the top pair on board paired and there was a raise and a reraise, and I dumped them. The second time was in 1/2 no limit, I tried to get too fancy with them in a straddle pot, got like 6 callers, and had to fold them to two all ins on the turn. Both times the hands were shown down and it was a correct fold. Even in a cash game, you have to fold them sometimes, and it's never fun, but if you
  12. Hey, how's it going, longtime lurker, first time poster.I play most of my poker live, usually at the local card room in my hometown. It seems I make most of my profit off the weaker players who come in occasionally, but don't do as well against the other regulars. My theory was that they were good at reading me, and this was confirmed somewhat last night. One of the guys I play with a lot, a good young LAG player, told me a tell I have wher I pucker my lips up whenever I have a really strong hand. This obviously is not good, because I can't get paid off by this guy or anyone else if I am doing
