A nice little bit of progress for my first full week.

 

Doing things a little bit different this time around. I haven't really changed my diet all that much with the exception of cutting back on sweets. Instead I'm really focusing on hydration and using water as a means to not eat as much...the one big glass before meals really does help.

 

Also trying to improve my energy levels and boost my metabolism by going to bed at the same time each night, getting up at the same time each morning, going for a walk or light jog before heading into work and repeating when I get home from work

 

I think I have a much better chance of sticking with this method than I would counting calories or trying to completely change my diet.

Thanks Dave, nice work too. I've been going really well on the treadmill, doing at least 5k, about 5 times a week minimum. I find watching a game I'm really into helps, and sometimes I just play music while I run and watch the game on mute.

And nice work GoCubs, thats a great week. And thanks for the water tip, thats one I had heard before, but never remember to use it. Would be helpful on those meals I know may get away from me. Usually my meals are healthy these days, but last Saturday did a pizza place with a couple of families, and we ordered way too much to all just share, and I just kept on going+going. Never got full. I guess its ok to do that once a week, but in the past, that would have been daily.

I need to make these next couple weeks count. I've got a 5 day golf trip to Whitefish, Montana for a friend's 40th birthday coming up on May long weekend that is going to be awesome, but will probably result in another 2-week break-even period for the weight situation.

You guys have too great a social life with these trips and big getaways,you need to be a home bound loser like me to lose weight properly. Lol

I just about had a 10 day trip to Copenhagen thrown in the middle of May, but some jerk wanted to spend time with his family rather than play more hockey :)

I'm waiting for my shoulder therapy appointment, and my guy has moved his practice to downtown Toronto, inside a full gym.

I'm absolutely stunned at the number of people who seem to be using their lunch hour to work out at the gym.

I know what you guys mean.

 

I was given a tour of the facility and my thoughts were.........this would be great if no one else was here, and I could have a personal trainer show me how to do this stuff. Or, hey look, there's Jurassic Park and a shawarma truck.

I like shawarma! I like the Raptors! Im outta here.

Yeah, I have no clue how to work any thing. Can't do free weights cuz I don't know how. No idea on etiquette.

 

I mean, I could go ride the bike for an hour an go home.... something I should probably do in the winter so I don't get fat as **** during my hermit season.

 

I wish I had some more regular "fun" exercise. Like a squash partner or just some other random cardio that will keep me in better shape.
