  1. there are definitely times when raising 5-6 times BB is a good strategy, but it should not be a defense against bad beats. you want those Q2s trying to hit their Q on the river even if you've been experiencing alot of bad luck lately. as for lottery players, I've never seen a lottery player that can make money using that strategy consistently. It seems like their all-in moves are either with AK/AQ or mid pocket pairs, and with mid PP they'll eventually end up dominated and not playing much of a lottery.
  2. I would check and take the free card. If another overcard like a king or ace comes out, then you can probably lay JJ down on the river if he bets. If a blank hits, then checking will let you show down for only one bet. If he check raises you again on the turn, then he's representing something that's at least as good as a pair of queens. So you would probably want to fold the jacks there anyways. So in both scenarios, you lose a bet at worse, but by checking on the turn you can gain some information on your opponent by making him show his hand. Also, there's the possibility that he checks
  3. Thought Id try to contribute to the stud forum... Although my stud experience is pretty limited, here's a situation that has come up a couple of times. I'm heads up with an opponent where I clearly have something like aces up or trips and the opponent is obviously on a flush or straight draw. I keep betting into him/her, charging for the draw and of course they keep calling, sometimes getting the right odds. Here's my question: once we've hit seventh street (whatever the proper stud terminology is for the last card dealt), I usually feel like I should check/call since if I bet and get raise
