DanielNegreanu 141
If you play limit hold'em at all, the section on limit hold'em written by Jennifer Harman is worth the price of the book alone. Jennifer goes into great detail how to isolate your opponents by using the three bet as well as position. As for my section on triple draw, I'm extremely proud of the way it turned out. I also have to thank John Juanda because most of what was written in that chapter were lessons I learned from John years ago. (I'll add more to this review as I read the rest of the book)

I thought all of the chapters were great with the exception of the Chinese Poker chapters.(where I know several experts who disagree with several key points.)A quick question about your triple draw chapter. What do you think the key differences are playing Triple Draw in limit versus no-limit?
tekn0wledg 0
I have to say that I am awaiting the arrival of this book anxiously. Unfortunately I don't play at Doyle's Room so I'll have to wait until my pre-order arrives.

murphyz 0
Does SS2 cover Internet play?If so, how indepth does it go?I loved the NL Holde'em section in SS, but of course I could not relate it to internet play as much as to live action - I'm hoping the new one has moved enough with the times to cater for both.cheersMxx
Mandelbrot 0
I plan on buying it just as soon as it's available in stores. I'm not going to choose my poker site based on a book.
Awful 0
There's a thread further down with my chapter-by-chapter look at it. I'm just a random dude who likes poker books and ground out SS2, so I don't really comment on quality or anything but do assess coverage, and I provide my (less than glowing) opinion on Doyle's Room. You may want to check it out if you're reading this thread and wondering about it. For the internet section, it says basically: "here's what's nice about internet poker. play at doyle's room. use the rest of the book and play the game well and it will translate. assume the low-limit players REALLY suck. Play SnG's to cash first and win second, no matter what pride dictates." and that's it on Internet Poker. Also, Jennifer Harman's Limit Holdem section is one of the best pieces of poker writing I've ever seen; while my game doesn't match my "poker literacy", that section is great in its organization, clarity, and coverage, and her record and Daniel's praise vouch enough for the content, even if I don't know enough to really be trusted with that. For the person asking about NL lowball, get SS1 if you want and read about old-school 2-7 which, from what I've read, was Doyle's preferred game even over NLH in his Texas road gambler days. That'll cover how 2-7 goes with 1 draw and NL structure... with 3 draws, wow, that would be a weird game.
tmiesen359 0
im a little confused.....is this book ever coming out for people who dont play at doylesroom? all i ever hear about it is that the ONLY way to get it was to play there, they never seem to say anything about a regular release date or anything, which is really disappointing to me as im not even legal to play online
banker2005 0
I heard that it was going to be released to the public (ppl who don't play at Doyle's Room) in February.

cst3e 0
Is it necessary to have read Super System1 before reading Super System2? I'm a novice, so I'm not sure if I'll understand the SS2 concepts if it builds off of SS1. Thanks in advance.
faketree 0
A quick question about your triple draw chapter. Â What do you think the key differences are playing Triple Draw in limit versus no-limit?Actually I've never heard of triple draw being played no limit... it just wouldn't play very well.come on daniel!! 2-7 No-limit draw was a big game in california not 10 years ago when it died out. there is even a WSOP tourney 2-7 no limit. and i think jennifer won it last year didn't she? how could you not have heard of it?that being said, i can't wait to read your chapter on the game as my interest grown over the last couple of months playing very low limits on ultimatebet. i also can't wait to read jennifers chapter on limit as it is supposedly 'groundbreaking'. Awful 0
That's single draw deuce to seven that it's played no-limit. With one draw instead of 3, the final hand strength is weaker, fewer draws can be completed, and worse hands can be kept pat. Adding 2 draws and betting rounds with no limit would be insane, given the amount that hand complexion changes on each draw, and all sorts of associated factors with there being 3 draws and having people all-in is awkward, and likely neither exciting nor fully emphasizing skill as big-bet structures usually are.Daniel's section deals with the triple draw variety, which is why we're not discussing single draw lowball, and why no-limit is outside the scope of the discussion. Check SS1 for some single draw lowball principles and the adjustments for old-school 2-7. If there's no limit, there's 1 draw and 2 chances to bet.

CardKillah 0
Greetings.I've just managed to snag a copy of SS2, and it's definitely 'different ' then what I expected. I'm still trying to figure out how that is, exactly..*L* The section on Internet poker by Doyle, and his articles are pretty thought provoking. However, with all do respect to Mike Caro, I found some of his information to be a "re-hash" from his other work. I was expecting perhaps, some different information on tells, perhaps in relation to the internet, more information on limit/nl games. His book of tells, is definitely worth reading, as most of us have, and very much enjoyed his particular layouts of the hands and explanations as such in that book. Of course, that's that book, obviously, and not SS2. Jennifer's section on Limit is pretty decent. I definitely have to agree that the section is structured very well. The same with Daniel's. I like Daniel's section on Triple draw, as, I have not played it before, so, anything I can read that's new is always a treat. The book is worth picking up overall, however, I guess my only critique, well, rather comment/suggestion, so to speak, is that I would like to see more specific situational hands, (e.g. "You're dealt XX cards, the flop is X-X-X....etc.") There are various books that offer those types of analysis, I just wasn't sure how it was going to be incorporated in SS2. For instance, at the end of each section, or even the end of the book, a listing of "X" number hand situations, and how you would deal with it. Because, I believe, to an extent, the mathematical aspect of the game is very important, but, almost as important is how you would react in any number of given areas. The best way to do that is, playing/practice, and reading about them, imo. Yes, I know everyone's a critic, but, that's just my $.
FrankB 0
I've read on other forums that members who pre-ordered SS2 from Barnes and Noble have had their books shipped. However they are probably lying. Pre-orders from Amazon are scheduled to ship Feb. 5th. Meaning it will more than likely be available to the public on February 8th. Most books, cds, and DVDs are released on Tuesdays.Has anyone read Dan Harrington's book? I have heard very positive things about it. I would love to hear others thoughts. CardKillah 0
Quite possibly, yes, they could be. I was lucky enough to walk into a bookstore, and voila, it was there on the shelf much to my surprise, of course. How this is, I'm not really sure, but, I wasn't about to argue..*L* I haven't read Harrington's book yet, although I've been meaning too.
JimmyWellington 1
Mine still hasnt shipped from Amazon. I heard Feb 5 too.I have Harrington on Holdem on the way, so I can take my time with that book before I get started on SS2.
