PimpRock 0
Hell naw.He has a responsibility, no, damn it, a duty to make other peoples lives exciting. How else do you expect Dirty to get some form of excitement into his otherwise meagre existance if not to live vicariously through DN and others?sw

KowboyKoop 0
What is he? A trained monkey? He's a poker player. One the greatest of all time.Let the man live his life.I take issue with the fact that DN is "one of the greatest of all time." I mean, he has been a very good player, but being in the "greatest of all time" category is for guys like T.J. Cloutier, Doyle Brunson, Hellmuth (for tournament poker only), Barry Greenstein (cash game specialist) and Johnny Chan....guys who have some MAJOR accomplishments over a longer period of time. The only player under 35 who I would consider in the possible "greatest of all time" category is Ivey, who has more bracelets than DN and plays in the Big Game all the time....don't get me wrong, DN is a good player (not right now though...) but he is far from one of the greatest of all time. Imagine the poker content in Ivey's blog, the number of hours a week he plays with the players he plays with, that would be awesome.
iveyfan30 0
yepp ..a blog with actual poker in it would be great....but reading about how much his pants cost and how a meal was "to die for" is equally insightful
LuckyMcCatcher 0
DN and Ivey are complete opposites as far as how they approach the game. DN understands the value of self-promotion and the value of generally being available to the public, hence FCP. If DN were not inteterested in self-promotion and other business ventures ala (Ivey) I doubt he would have a poker blog at all. Understand that until about a year and a half ago DN grinded out a living with the possibility of going broke always looming. Imagine the lure to a professional poker player of being able to make money w/o the possibility of going broke. For players like Ivey who always need action and the looming danger, there is no time for poker blogs and self promotion. Both are equally viable ways to be a pro poker player, just dont expect that a player can be both at the same time.

majorleag 0
I agree Lucky, well done.I think Ivey by design does not want to do a blog, probably because of what Lucky already said is that it takes time, energy, dedication and would take some of the focus away from his playing. The other reason though is that when you start to write these, especially if you write about your poker hands, experiences etc., which is exactly what this thread was about you will give some insights in to the way you play.My guess is that Ivey figures that you can get enough of that now by watching him on TV or live and why give you anymore information then he absolutely has to. stealfromblind 0
The funniest shit I have ever read in a blog was a phil ivey quote in josh ariehs blog about the aviation club being held up at gunpoint...."When all the chaos started there had just been a flop in the 800-1600 game that Lindgren, Ivey and Greenstein were playing, so to say the least the robbers interrupted their game. Ivey and the boys have some sort of way of betting on the side if certain hands win each pot. While I was in the fetal position praying for my life, Ivey was under the table calm as can be and, turning to Lindgren and Greenstein said "Boys, I wanna' double up this hand"...... this isnt right, I'm praying for my life, and Ivey is under the table cracking jokes"Ivey definately needs a blog. Needing action I agree is probably a big reason why Ivey focuses more on playing poker, but I think the value in maintaining a semblance of a private life is also a big reason he's not into self promotion. Danny is no more famous than Ivey, well maybe a little. He's flying all over the country to do 5 mnute interviews while Phil is taking down pots. Not ragging on DN, but Ivey just doesn't give a crap about publicity. I would guess that he wishes he had less.
