desperate for new strategy (pokerroom)

Okay, I'm playing 1-2 NL on Pokerroom.com and I desperately need a new strategy.Over the last couple weeks, I'm about +2200 playing NL. But I'm -2400 playing blackjack. SOMEONE HELP ME!Stupid non-Mac friendly online poker rooms. The only one I can play has my biggest weakness, blackjack. And boy do I suck at it. :)Okay, a real strategic question to keep this relevant:I'm in early position and I make it 5 to go with AQ of hearts (I have 180 total). One guy in middle position goes all in for a total of 7 dollars. A late position player with about 75 calls and I call. The flop comes Q-3-5 rainbow. He checks. I bet 10. He calls. The turn comes a 9. He checks. I bet 20. He calls. The river is a blank and he checks into me. I check and he shows kings.Okay, so I suspected after he called my 10 dollar bet on the flop that he had me beat, either with a set or kings. Was I pretty much stuck on making that turn bet? I didn't have a read on him, just a hunch. What's the best way to gather that information?Peace,Jay

I think the $10 bet kinda tells you where you are, but he kept checking. Thus, you have to keep betting on the turn. I'm really surprised that guy played KK that way, really weird. Maybe he thought it was a tournament and it is profitable to try to eliminate players. Not much you can do when someone gives you an opportunity to draw out and it just doesn't happen. In the long run, someone playing KK that passively will build your BR, I'm not sure I can help you with this specific hand, because it's just too weird. The only thing I can think of is that he thought you were rolling with AA. Anyway, you have to bet to get information. I would think I'm behind on the flop with AQ, the only other hand, he might have would be KQ, and even that shouldn't be played against a raise, a short stack moving all in, and being out of position.Put some notes down on that guy if you see him again. you play blackjack online? thats a bad idea..the house edge online I think has a much bigger edge compared to live blackjack. If you want to improve in blackjack..i suggest reading blackjack bluebook 2 and playing LIVE only. It teaches you how to do partial card counting..not a full count so its not illegal. You cant do this online.

Play on Poker Room's "sister site" Hollywood Poker. From what I can tell, they only have Hold 'Em, Omaha, Omaha 8, Stud and Stud 8... No Blackjack.

when youre playing AQ, this is the flop you're really looking for...this is just one of those cases where you're going to have to lose a few chips...it sounds to me like you played it perfectly...a lot of players would have still bet the river, few players realize the importance of good river play. To explain why this guy played these this way...i have two possible answers1) he is the ULTIMATE CALLING STATION, like...at&t or verizon the only thing this guy can do is call...no bet or raise2) he is a very weak player who overvalues his hand in this spot thinking its okay to slowplay all the way to the river...I think this is the more likely scenario. i think he was slowplaying the whole time and was gonna wait til the river to make his move like so many weak players try to do...So yea i think you played the hand perfectly to be honest...tough break....and regarding blackjack...you are completely wasting your time doing it online...every time you play a hand, you have a negative EV...think abotu blackjack online like this: you got a gutshot to the bottom end straight on a two flush board with 6 opponents and you're calling two bets cold to draw....EVERY TIMEdont do.if youre serious about blackjack tho..i. haven't heard of the other book but you may want to look into "playing blackjack as a business" a classic written like over 20 years ago...lots of charts and like 5 different card counting strategies...but dont play online...seriously, god...that hurts to know there are people who just blatently throw money away like that....good luck to you!

Thanks for all the responses!The blackjack part was a joke. I'm a complete degenerate blackjack player and I try to stay away from it, but I usually fail. I have a theory that if I lose four hands in a row, there's no way I can lose a fifth, so I should bet the maximum. :)As for the hand, I started to suspect I was behind because the flop didn't seem to scare him, although it's hard to judge online. He took a long time on the river to check it to me, so I'm pretty sure he was looking to check-raise me. Glad I played it correctly, though.Peace,Jay
