rivergirl 2
Watching the replay of TJ's Sunday Million ft. Its showing everyone's hole cards except for TJ's. I can completely understand why someone would opt out of having their cards shown, but why would somebody voluntarily opt to show them if not everyone is and its not required? Can someone shed light on this, then can someone hijack the thread followed by numerous flames please? thanx.

rivergirl 2
i'm not questioning why TJ did not show his cards, i'm questioning why ANYBODY would voluntarily show their cards if it's not required. Especially at that level, why would you give so many players so much information about your game during a Sunday major?

Sheiky 0
TJ said in another thread that he'd be quite happy to show if everyone else agreed to but at the time people weren't agreeing i think.

WhatArunAA 0
I prolly would have done it if I knew everyone else was doing it. usually 2 or 3 people never do it and it ruins the experience for everyone... if I knew EVERYONE would show.. I most likely would have.

Especially at that level, why would you give so many players so much information about your game during a Sunday major?I don't know how much this really matters. The "PXF Pro's" have tons of video's out there showing how they play every hand throughout the whole tournament with voice commentary (yes, I know they get paid for it). The point is, I haven't heard anything about how Bax, Below, Apestyles, etc. can't win now that people know how they play.I can see not wanting to give info away if given the choice, I just don't think its a huge deal. If PS really wants to make these interesting, they should just say that all hole cards at the FT will be shown for every Sunday Million. Problem solved. (And, no, I don't think that would stop anyone from playing - pro's play live events where hole cards are shown throughout the tournament).
phlegm 6
I would like to know if they can reveal holecards for replay why cant someonesee the cards during play, ala AP.
chgocubs99 0
I think that it isn't an option anymore? They make you show, right?

Thus, the hand histories are saved in a database somewhere, that someone has access to. It is just a fundamental aspect of any site. The point is, the power to see into this database is limited and the people with access have to be trusted not to abuse it. You implicitly give that trust to any site you play on.Mark
Big Jono 0
Ive never played the Sunday Mill but I just registered for a 500FPP satellite to it and when i did i got a message saying: 'The final table of the sunday million will be replayed with ALL players holecards showing, if you do not agree to this please DO NOT register for the Sunday Million'So is this new this week, or has it always said this but people still get the chance to say no if they want? NoSup4U 0
So is this new this week, or has it always said this but people still get the chance to say no if they want?I believe TJ said it started the week after he won the Sunday Mill, so just a couple weeks ago. Previously you could opt out if you wanted.Mark

Once the hand is finished, the hand is saved to a database which PokerStars (or whatever site) personnell can access

The moment the card is dealt, is it being written to the database somehow.

Once the hand is finished, the hand is saved to a database which PokerStars (or whatever site) personnell can accessIts hard to explain if you aren't a programmer, but sort of how it works is, there is a piece of code that generates the cards you are dealt. It does some math to figure out what cards you are getting, and saves this data into a little box. Then the information in that box is displayed on your screen (ie your cards). That box is available for anyone with access to look into during the hand. That box always contains the information about your cards because that is how they exist on your screen.Once the hand is over then the data about your cards is passed to another box in another database and stored permanently for you to access later if you request the hand history. Then the new hand is dealt, and your new cards are put into your 'box' and displayed on your screen as before. This 'box' with your cards does not exist on your computer or on your 'screen' or whatever, but exists on the poker site and is just passed as an image to your computer to display. Its just kind of how programs work. I can assure you that there is ABSOLUTELY someone and probably multiple someones at each poker site with access to your hole card information. Normally there would be multiple levels of security around this so if someone with access uses that access, then multiple people are alerted etc.Mark
