Craziest Heads Up Blog

Recommended Posts

I just played the craziest heads up of my life at a friends house in a 10 dollar tournament, so I thought I'd make a little blog and see if people have had really sick heads up matches at the end of tournaments. To start heads up, I'm about a 2.5+:1 chip dog to a tight/passive, tight/aggressive reasonable opponent (He's probably the 4th or 5th best player in our home game with a roster of about 15, although he can be a little obvious sometimes). We start heads up with 40,000 chips in play and blinds of 100/200. He has about 25k and I have the remaining 15k. We play a few meaningless hands with blinds+ shifting around to start. After the blinds go up to 200/400 we start to play back at each other a little bit more. I lose a decent pot after he flops top pair about three hands in a row and I play back at him on the third with middle pair. I fall to about 6,000+ in chips after this series. I wake up with KQs and shove and pick up a blind from him. Two hands later, I pick up KQos on the BB. This time he raises from the button to 1200 total, and I have around 6,000. I tell him, "Alright, let's go" and put the rest in. My friend puts on this really retarded song in the backround and says it's good luck. He mulls it over and finally calls with A4os. The flop brings an Ace and two spades and I have the only spade with the Qs. I'm fairly sure I'm deadmeat and start to get ready to leave, when I turn a spade, but it's the 4 of spades, making him aces up. I say, "Wow, two pair." expecting to miss the draw. I glance away and when I looked back the very beautiful 10 of spades hits the table and I nearly jump out of my seat. I double to around 12k, and am back in it. He says "That's so sick" and I'm incline to agree with him.A few hands later, with the stacks about 15-25 again, he raises to around 1800 from the button, with blinds at 300-600, and I look down at KJos. I simply call and see the flop;It bring K109 rainbow. I flop top pair with a good kicker, and lead out for about 1200. He calls. The turn is a 6 completeing the rainbow. I lead out now for 3,000, and he mulls over the call for a little while. He finally pulls out 3,000 more and reraises to 6,000. I instantly go all-in for my last 6,000~. He looks disgusted and says "Well, I hope you don't have a straight." and calls. He shows K10os for top two pair. I wince when he shows it, and start to pack up again. AGAIN the river brings a gorgeous Queen of hearts, and my straight fills for another double. This time I turn the tables to about 30-10 CL.The very next hand I pick up two threes from the button, and open shove. He insta-calls me with A5os, and we start to race. The flop brings two dueces and an 8. All's looking good. Turn is a 6 leaving him with 6 outs. I start to celebrate early as he spikes his 5, and doubles up. I don't even have the right to complain after my two suck outs. We end the hand nearly 50-50 in chips. The blinds increase to 400-800.The very next hand, I'm the big blind with 3h5h, and check after he completes. The flop brings J98 ALL HEARTS. I check, and so does the button. The turn puts a 7 of clubs on the board. I lead out for 2500, overbetting the pot. He wastes almost no time shoving all-in (remember the obvious part?) I hesitate slightly and figure his range is too wide to fold with such a huge drawing board. He has me slightly covered in chips, and I turn over the flush as he says, "Wow did you flop it?" He jumps out of his seat and turns over 6h2h for the 6 high flush over my 5 high flush. I nearly **** bricks and realize I'm drawing stone dead after all this non-sense.We were both 1 card away from winning the tournament at least once in heads up and got rivered, him twice being in that situation, only to have the final hand end on a sicko cooler. Anyone else have a sicko heads up?
