adamkadmon 0
Just curious why there are never any no limit stud games, or are there? seems kinda interesting, why not? I think I must nbe missing something but haven't put much thought into it and was curious.
Eskimo 0
I completely agree. I think one of the main reasons people don't play stud anymore is because its so damn slow. I was playing a stud tourny on party poker and it lasted literally and hour and a half and thats was PLAY MONEY. Make it no-limit and that will surely speed up the game. jayboogie 0
it's mostly a drawing game, so No Limit would not be possible. It'd be pretty hard for you to call an All-In when your on a flush draw, also the 3 covered cards make it impossible sometimes to put your opponent on a hand. Stud just can't be played No-LImit style. The limits late in a tournament are already high enough where often times your all-in if you get all the way down to 7th street. tekn0wledg 0
I have seen some PL variations of 7-stud hi/lo which was just INSANE. It was probably the most fun I've ever had playing in a 7-stud tournie too, but it was quite chaotic.
the_stein 0
no limit stud just wouldn't work well, get a group of your friends together n try it, you'll see what I mean
Frank Guest 0
I play in a monthly Dealer's Choice game in which we regularly play pot-limit stud games. They are absolutely insane and this game features a minimum buy-in of 1k - pots of 3 - 5k are common at this table. I have always done well as the competition is relatively weak, but some hands can just get insaneOn one hand, started with:AJ-J, then caught an Ace to give me Aces-up in four.Clearly a monster hand, but had to fold to a pot-sized bet for about a $750 raise over the top of my bet to xx-Qs3s. Why did I fold? The hand started slow so this player could have had anything at this point, from slowing playing rolled-up Queens, to trip 3s on fourth street, or even a four-flush which i didn't really want to see if I re-raised him all-in. Even more importantly it was a solid-type player. These pot-limit stud nights are the hardest and most gruelling nights on the felt, tho the most profitable. Arguably just as hard/difficult as high stakes NL Hold'em.http://frankiepoker.blogspot.com/
