2011 Goals Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps,I've just looked through the previous goals threads and saw that a different person kicked them off each year in the past few years. Since I didn't see one for 2011, I figured I may as well start one :PPrevious threads:2010 http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...howtopic=1402512009 http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...howtopic=1320632008 http://www.fullcontactpoker.com/poker-foru...howtopic=113471Following the lessons learnt last year, I declare 2011 to be the year of the 50ks:Poker- play 50k hands of poker.Non-Poker- write 50k words (preferably fiction).- burn 50k calories with cardio. So, what are your goals for 2011?

Here's my post from the other thread:

2009:Here's my graph for all of 2009:xZropE3VhZPI35baj4Sd.pngThat misses some of my old database, which is worth about $1800 so I'm calling it an 11.6k year in pure poker. I am super happy with this total. I had a bankroll of less than $200 in April and I managed to grind it up without being staked or binking a MTT (although I did bink some PLO :club:). Not to say it makes it any more or less of an accomplishment, but I feel like I've really had to grind the micros to get to where I am today, something I'm very proud of. By the end of 2009 I was going to be really happy to be rolled for 50nl, so to be where I'm at is incredible. I didn't play a ton of hands this year, as seen, so I can't be nearly sure of my true winrate at any stake really, but I'm super happy with my results thus far and I feel very confident up to 200nl. Here's my breakdown by stakes.tXiAlhzdR6F7iFjcX5Xj.pngI'm super super excited by the prospect of 2010, I'm taking the year off between high school and university, and I'm really ready to keep improving my game and hopefully continuing to show success at 1/2 and above. Some of my goals:Grind the whole year hardDon't get lazy/complacent with my play and resultsHave a really fun timeWhen we add Rakeback/Bonuses it turns into $14,247.77 for the year :ts
Look I failed miserably this year. Whatever. I played in January and had a pretty brutal downswing and lost some confidence. Dropped down to 100nl in February and grinded really hard that month for about 60k hands. In February and March combined I got way too focused on my downswing and the fact I was like 6kish under EV and stopped focusing on my game. I didn't do anything in April at all really, except play a lot of Dynasty Warriors 5. In May I got my dedication back and upswinged very well at 100nl, moved up to 200nl and did okay. Then I started taking a few shots at fish a bit higher up, selling a % of myself. Unfortunately I hit another downswing immediately before going to Vegas in June. Vegas was amazing and may have been the best month of my life, I met a lot of very cool people, had a blast and actually broke even on the trip after poker (helps to run like god at CCR). In July and August I began switching my focus to tournament, grinding them reasonably hard but not FTing much at all and running up some makeup. Since then I've been horribly lazy, spent most of my days waking up at noon and then doing nothing all day. Hardly played any cash, probably played even less tournies. That was a long and poorly written paragraph but I'm really over it. I do feel like I've grown as a person and a player (not to mention in girth too!) over the last year, not nearly as much or as positively as I'd have liked, but that's okay. I'm starting university in a few months, it gives me something else to focus my attention on and will hopefully add some order and routine into my life. I'm hoping this can transfer into poker/general health too and I can begin the grind with a fresh dedication. That for me is going to start in January. I'm feeling good again. In terms of actualy monetary results, I've done a terrible job keeping track of my profit/loss from this year, switching computers 3 times and losing a few databases on the way. I want to say +4k or something similar.edit: managed to take a look at my results and it's about +7kSo some goals:- Don't fail uni- Get fitter/have the fucking discipline to stick to an exercise schedule- Enjoy poker again- Grind hard- Be prepared to admit the leaks in my mental game and work on fixing themApologies to kick this thread off on such a negative note, but it's only to make the rest of you studs look better :4h

I've loved poker for quite a long time, and have always dreamed of having a really solid bankroll. I see guys on here playing all the Sunday tournies, and I want that for myself some day too. However, everytime I've ever deposited money I've either withdrawn it after it got to a certain point, or lost it all by taking a shot. I took a long break from poker, and in that time I started going to school and I feel I've really matured. Recently I started getting that itch to play again, and one of my buddies is in the middle of grinding up a $100 deposit, so I decided its time for me to take a shot as well.Poker Goals:Deposit $150 onto PokerstarsStart at $.25/$.50 limit and follow strict bankroll management to move upBuy HEM to track my performanceBuy membership to training site for more helpStay active on poker sites to help with learningNon Poker Goals:Finish my associates degree in accounting with a 3.0 or higherMaintain at least a 3.5 in my IT bachelors programLose 100 Pounds ("caloric bankroll management" if you will.....)Eliminate all remaining debt (tax time ftw)I started a blog (listed below) to help me with staying on track. I will not fail this time. :club:

do you want to move because of poker? If so I'd pick somewhere else. Bay 101 is a large card room but it isn't in a great area and you will get tired of playing there after a couple of days. Tahoe is a lot farther than 2 hours away, and although it is a cool area, the poker isn't great.

made a little over $6k this year which is really disappointing because I think I'm alot better than that. struggled at being consistent with volume... some days I played alot and then other times I wouldn't play for like a week. I know that I am capable of alot better and hope to achieve some of my goals next year because I pretty much didnt meet a single one this year.1. $12.5k profit. I think i can do this fairly easy with putting in a little more effort and volume2. Dont break anymore mouses or laptops3. Get in shape4. Graduate in the spring and get a job.5. Get drunk alot

Not because of poker, If it was poker I would be going to Vegas. He is not into poker, I was looking at casino's close to him. Cache Creek is also near him. He is telling me that Tahoe is about 2-2.5 hours away from him. Also Vegas is only less than a hour by flight from Sacramento which is 15-20 minutes from him.

ThX Rosey. It's definitely a service I want to add, but haven't had time to focus on it so figure if I write it down as a goal, it will be so!

Yeah that's correct Tahoe is about 2-2.5 hours away from Cache Creek... but that is also about 2-2.5 hours away from Bay 101 going the other way.Be ready for crazy hot weather if you move to the Sacramento area.

Poker:-Exhibit moderate B/R management in the early portion of the year to cultivate a 200-300 buck roll into 500+ -Making 100-200 a month by June , still exhibiting solid B/R management...in an attempt to set a foundation to prove that I can grind a supplemental side income couple hundred a month in poker if/when the wife and I decide to have kid(s).-Continue progressing and cultivating my play in PLO/PLO8/HORSE-Get my first four figure score.-FT a NLHE MTT.-Take more time for MTT poker. I can't quantify this...I work M-F and have a very large social calendar on weekends. Essentially maybe taking a few days off solely to play poker or just give me weekend days for the intent of MTT'ing.Non-Poker:-It's weird. I think about it....and I'm pretty content with the status quo in my life these days. So I guess I hope things hang steady with work, love and life.- That said I'm hit a new high at 207lbs. I'm 6'2 and very athletic so it's really no big deal. But that said I want to get back to the 195-200 range and stay there, while still keeping up a good pace w/ lifting. First time I'm going to actually try to lose weight in my life.-Along with that I want to try and incorporate a meatless diet into my life. This is more of a pipe dream I feel, but I am slowly but steadily decreasing my meat consumption, so I guess just keep decreasing it when possible and we'll see what happens.
I was gonna wait 1.5 hours to post EXACTLY 1 year from last year. I'm very happy with reaching goals this year poker-wise. I achieved my first four figure score taking 2nd of 2332 in one of the early doubles on a sunday on tilt. It was NLHE. I have also had some other solid FT's by taking more time to play MTT's. I have really focused in on limit O/8 over the past year. My advanced PLO book 2 by Hwang has been sitting on my shelf for month(s). Non-poker, ehhh, but no complaints. Im actually up to 212. That said I've started eating a lot better generally speaking. I'm optimistic with my post holiday 2011 prospects :)As noted in the 2010 thread, I've sorta turned online poker into a means to facilitate a few LV trips a year. Im 100% fine with that!I actually got started on rakeback on FTP FINALLY. that is going a long way in keeping me steady, esp during this downswing (in cash) to close out the year.In all honesty my 2010 goals are pretty much considered a success, but at the same time are being readopted as my 2011 goals. I definitely want to keep the MTT thing going. I still honestly didn't play a whole lot of volume...but it was far more than prior years, and the results followed. I dont know for sure, but i was probably just about a break even cash player over a shit ton of hands. I've long since been in the frame of mind that NLHE is a shark filled game, so I've tried to focus on Omaha, Omaha/8 over the years. I wouldn't mind getting into some .05/.10 NLHE and maybe getting into posting hands and actually strengthening my play there. We'll see though!!!Good luck all!!!!
