alf13 0
Alf...if i'm not mistaken you are opening your own card room right? What are the laws in FL about how many tables you can have going at the same time.?My ultimate goal is to open a card room here in San Diego but we are limited to 7 tables going at once.Is it the same in Fl?WHOA...........!!!!!!!I'm not opening a "card room"....I am converting a room in my house into a one table card room with another table on stand by...I am gonna handle a 10/10 NLHE game, and a 40/40 Stud game on a couple of nights. $100 and $50 sng's on the weekend....The law in Florida is very vague on a private card room.I consulted an attorney and he said the following things:A) YOU CANNOT charge a rake.B) You can do a collection pot....or accept donations...OR...charge each player per hour.C) The game cannot be visible...it must be indoors.D) There cannot and must not be any cash on the table.E) The card room must be at a residence or Building that has another commercial use.Basically...if you make believe that you are playing for play money...you are fine in florida. The big NONO is cash on the table. Tritz 0
Alf, seems fairly uncomplicated until you get to this one:E) The card room must be at a residence or Building that has another commercial use. what did you do about that.

Tritz 0
Wouldn't his house need a second commercial use then?
alf13 0
Wouldn't his house need a second commercial use then?It has one...I sent you a PM....For those not privy to the PM....I got a Mortgage Brokers License and an Occupational license to operate a Mortgage Brokerage out of my house....I have the license proudly displayed right next to the computer I use for my "clients"....nevermind that i haven't closed a loan in almost a year....And yes...I have always been criminally inclined.
WhiteSpade 0
I would have thought that your residence would have to be zoned for a commercial use. As a mortgage broker from your home, did you have to take these steps? Or is abiding by a zoning ordinance not an issue - as long as you have proof of a use?

Ebay was started out of someones home. Most business licenses dont care if its on Residential or Commercial property. As long as no other laws are broken. Most zoning laws would cover number of people in the building at once (fire marshall), bathrooms to employees, (Osha) etc..I am self- employed and work from my residence, in California one of the hardest, most red tape states there is.J

Look up. I think what the law is implying is that he does not start a business (casino) at a location in which he is attracting people for the sol purpose of gambling.
