His racism is one and his misunderstanding and dislike for international trade is another. Somebody pointed out that Trump views everything as transactional with a winner and a loser. To him everything is zero sum so the only way for him to win is for you to lose. In his mind if Canada or Europe are benefiting from something that means that the US is being a sucker and losing and he has a few trade cranks like Navarro around him reinforcing his wrong views on trade. According to a Canada release, they make almost 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with U.S. (guess they were bragging and got caught!). Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%. Meanwhile Canada uses a Milk board to create quotas to limit supply and pass on the cost to consumers. Who's the socialists now? -- Also a sneak news conference after he left? The Trump stooge that advising him now apparently just passed Circular Flow of Money and fell asleep for the rest of his degree. The thinking is; "leakages from the economy are directly stealing from GDP". And if you conveniently ignore services (which typically from blue states) from the Can/US trade balance and only look at goods then the US is "loosing". But .. Canada exports a ton of raw resources to the US to supply factories that the Americans sell throughout the world way; more than Canadian needs. Tariffs on intermediate goods (like Steel and Aluminum) is only hurting US manufacturing. And of which Putin is speculated to have $200B. Addendum: In retaliation to the Magnitsky Act, Putin signed a bill blocking adoption of Russian children to USA. Which brings us to a certain meeting with Don Jr where they taked about "adoptions" Still somewhat speculative but there quite few threads out there where Trump has acted as Putin puppet (like undermining the Magnitsky Act, capitulating over Crimea, cancelling joint exercises with SK, etc).
