  1. This is a fascinating subject. Like many, I'm not thrilled with the ruling... but in the 20 odd years I've been playing poker, I ALWAYS see it enforced this way. The small blind probably does it what, 10-20% of every raised hand? Who really demands that they (SB) keep that extra buck out there?? I've been guilty of it myself. Usually because a tired dealer isn't doing a great job running a game in a loud casino. There's a difference between a good faith error and trying to shoot an angle. It just sucks when you're on the other end.
  2. Like many folks that have been through advanced special forces training, I have been water boarded... and YES it's torture. Much of it however is technically psychological, as the technique causes a sensation whereby your brain/body feels as is you're drowning. It was a horrible experience to say the least. Like a lot of people, I have a tendency to black out from the experience... but results and experiences differ. Does it work?? Certainly the victim is scared sh!tless, and believes they are suffocating. But most studies show that torture just forces the "victim" (i use that term loos
  3. Speaking of health care... the fact that neither version of the house/senate's health care plan had ANY tort reform should tell you something. Democrats in Washington have been bought and sold by the lawyers... A looong time ago. I don't know about you, but this really troubles me.
  4. My first response was, "how is Daniel ahead of Ivey?". Then on second thought, how are any of these guys ahead of Ivey?? Meh, I actually get the poker sites at one and two... but any of the individual players ahead of Ivey??
  5. Yeah, for what it's worth, I tried making a new thread about the book and got mine "locked"... seems this thread already exhisted. I do offer my sicerest apology to the moderators, as I could/didnt find this one. Seems that you can regurgatate the same topics regarding strategy, small ball, Phil Hellmuth's behaviour, or Phill Ivey's greatness (he's gotta be the Tiger Woods of poker, right? ) but post another book opinion thread and you're in for it. No worries...
  6. Hey everyone,Like many here I've read a ton of poker books... and most of 'em sorta suck, who are we kidding. Anyway, while stuck shopping in the rain yesterday, I saw the Mouth's new book, "Check Raising the Devil". All I can say is WOW! I couldn't put the d@mn thing down. Great read from cover to cover. Like many I'm sick of most poker books that all have similiar thoughts on poker theory *yawn*. Wow, so I should bet/raise when i have the best hand and save money when I don't have the best of it?? At any rate, Mikey is a fascinating character, his break down of tournies, hands, and his star
  7. Meh, I've been a lurker since the beginning, and a member for 4 years... This was just the first time I could ACTUALLY give a recommendation to folks I know would appreciate it. Let me repeat: MOST poker books are bad, dare I say horrible (sorry Daniel) ...and they all regurgatate the same info (search your feelings, you know it to be true)... But I really dig the personal stuff, the rise, the fall, the peronal feelings/thoughts, etc.. Isn't it ironic that most of us< whether casual or fanatical, are fans of this site 'case of Daniel's personal thoughts and stories?? I mean, "small ba
