vegas cash game???

Recommended Posts

I am going to Vegas around Christmas time and am looking to play anything between 2-5 nl and 5-10 nl. I am from Chicago and I know the waits at the casino's near here for those games can be a long time. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what kind of waits I should expect at the Wynn and Bellagio for those games. Also, are there any other great poker rooms you would suggest for those limits.

It really depends on what time of day you go down. I haven't gone down to the MGM in a while....but they used to run a 9:00 am NLH tournament everyday, so I would go down at about 9 o'clock, get on the list if there wasn't an open seat......and just wait for about 10 minutes for the first wave of people to get knocked out of the tournament...and wanting to sit in an NL cash game. I haven't been able to make it there because of my teaching schedule.....but it was like taking candy from a disabled baby with no motor skills. I would assume those tournaments are still happening....so check it out. BTW....don't actually enter the tournament....one of the worst blind structures in town....it's a real lottery.Although it isn't open yet.....Caesar's Palace is opening a room that is apparently going to pwn every room in town. It is going to have an 8,000 sq. ft. cash game room, with an adjacent 6,000 sq. ft. tournament room. It is slated to open in December...so should be ready by X-Mas.I've been playing at the Wynn for the most part since around October. You will run into some good players there...and crappy ones like me. One of the best things about the Wynn is that they have no max buy in....so you'll get this guy that is a total fish...buy in for 10 grand to massage his ego and impress his trophy wife...and then he just donates to everyones college fund the entire night.Honestly...I don't understand everyones fascination with the Bellagio. It is totally over packed and uncomfortable. Unless you are planning to buy into the 'big game,' then there really is no reason to play at the Bellagio other than to be able to say you did it.Hey...for everyone that either lives here, or is coming to town to visit for X-Mas,we should set up a time for either a SNG or play in a smaller tournament or something. I don't want to hijack this really good thread...so I'll start another one. I'll call it 'Xmas in Vegas Anyone?'

2-5 no limit there is very beatable, that is the softest 2-5 no limit game in town the waits are not to bad, less than an hour and you can usually play 4-8 or 8-16 while you wait for your seat. The on edraw back to bellagio's game is that the max buy in is $200 you ca rebuy for $200 more if you get below $100, most other 2-5 no limit you can buyin for $500. Wynn and MGM would be the 2nd softest games. Mirgage is hit or miss, there are good players who frequent the no limit games, but there are also tourist donkeys, if you play there and find tough players at your table, request a table change. good luck and have fun in vegas. I may run into you in one of those games.
