..I believe that hits to the head, attempts to injure were not as prevalent as they are....

Wrong. Game was way dirtier. But it was also way slower.

I think Fleury has been great, and the last thing I want to do is take something away from him, but no way this is a case of a team riding a hot goalie to wins. This team is ridiculously good at.....I

NSH over COL in 5 WPG over MIN in 5 VGK over LAK in 6 ANA over SJS in 6   NSH over WPG in 7 ANA over VGK in 6   NSH over ANA in 5   TBL over NJD in 4 TOR over BOS in 6 PIT over PHI in 6 C

ahh, playoff time, time to curl into a ball on the couch and rock back and forth nervously for 3 hours each night until the Leafs and the Wild are eliminated.

Wrong. Game was way dirtier. But it was also way slower.

I remember in the 80's and 90's there was a lot more stick swinging. I honestly don't know if there were more hits to the head or less, my guess is that there was more, but people just kept on playing or just had to "shake the cobwebs off".

Game was DEFINITELY slower, from time to time I'll watch a 'classic' being shown, and I am amazed at the lack of speed.

I am trying to find stats on that..Its a good area of discussion..However I would guess there would be LESS hits to the head..I could be wrong..

Also I think Scott Stevens's hits today might be considered dirty or questionable..The amount of "good bodychecks" we see these days seem to be much more rare.

I mean, watch a rock Em sockem video from the mid 90s (pre instigator). Every hit would be suspendable. Every big Scott Stevens hit was a headshot and multiple game suspension in today’s game. I don’t think it’s close

Weren't we noting that no series in first round went 7, or was tied at 2-2?

It looks like we may have 4 series at 2-2, and I feel like all of them are trending towards a game 7. PIT-WAS NSH-WPG would be especially incredible game 7 drama, not that Vegas game 7 would be any less dramatic

Brad Marchand is a piece of shit that needs to be banned from all of Hockey.

I haven't been more confident in a Vegas -1.5 win since the mayweather/mcgregor fight.

winner!

It looked like they were coasting for a while there, and then suddenly it turned ugly, but thankfully they got the empty netter to clinch. nice call!!!

I went back and forth on this bet all day. I liked them to win, I didnt have the nerve to bet -1.5. I had too much already riding on them winning, my version of hedging was to not bet more! lol

Caps finally get a win over the Pens.

They were pretty impressive all series.

Should be a good one vs Tampa. Wonder if Ovy and the Caps have what it takes to go all the way now.

So it’ll be either a first time Cup champion or a team that hasn’t won it since 2004.

I think I’m rooting against Tampa then. Let’s spread the love around.

Pretty much everyone from Pittsburgh in my Facebook feed posted, "Let's go Vegas" or "Let's go Fleury!" after the game was over. Can't say I can argue that sentiment.

I think SJ has to steal a game to take the series to 6.

Winnipeg over Nashville in 7. This will be the most entertaining series of the entire playoffs.

My crystal ball was working on the outcomes but the Jets/Preds series wasn't the most entertaining series.

Before last night, I thought the Lightning would handle their business and win in 6 but they didn't show up for the first two periods at home so my confidence is low that they win the series and if they do, it'll take 7 games.

I'm super excited to see the western conference finals as it's such a fun match-up. I'm going with the Jetsin 7 but that's nothing more than a complete guess.

Holy shit, are you guys watching the finals?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So far, the east and west games couldn't be anymore different. I can't believe I'm excited to watch tonights game to see if Tampa can take this out to 5 or maybe even 6 games.

Not watching TB/Wash as both teams make me yawn in general.

Last night Vegas game was great. Whoever wins this series will be the team I root for in the finals. Vegas is my A team.

One thing I don't get is how Vegas isn't constantly being called for too many men. I guess it's because they're only using 5 skaters but it sure doesn't seem like it in game.

Somehow on defense they always seem to have at least one player breaking through the neutral zone for an outlet pass. When they're on offense, they seem to have a defense man able to cover even when they're applying a ton of pressure. Is this some perfect GTO kind of cycling where everyone is in the correct position at all times?

I'll tell you... I kind of want Winnipeg to win, but I have a very hard time cheering against a scenario where Fleury wins the Cup, especially because this Vegas team has been winning on the strength of phenomenal goaltending. A Fleury win would be such redemption for him. I know he doesn't feel like he had a huge part in the last 2 Cup wins, especially 2016. But taking an expansion team to the Cup would just be such an insane story. God I love Flower.

I think Fleury has been great, and the last thing I want to do is take something away from him, but no way this is a case of a team riding a hot goalie to wins. This team is ridiculously good at.....I dont know, but they are just so good as a team. They forecheck, they skate, and they play so so hard, and they just outwork you. And yes, like even the best of teams, they need their goalie to play like an MVP to go far in the playoffs. Would be hard to pick anyone but Fleury for MVP of playoffs, but this team just is outplaying others.

This was the first night in a long time I was betting against them, and they even got me now too. I really don't know anymore where this ends, maybe they win it all. Why the hell not?!?!

You all probably did, but did you guys notice that the checking line used by LV vs the Jets #1 line of Schief+Wheel, probably the best line in the playoffs this year, was Vegas' #4 line?

Did you guys notice that the Jets iced the puck in the first period, at 0-0, and their #1 line was on, and gassed....and Vegas put out there the #4 line in the offensive zone, and not Karlsson-Marchessault-Smith. My first thought was 'thats dumb, let your #1 line's offense pounce on a tired team'.....then I wondered if the strategy there is to tire out the Jets #1 unit by having that Reaves line just cycle cycle cycle and wear out Wheeler+Scheifele for the game, and for the series. I wonder...

If Vegas wins the cup. What does this say about every NHL gm? How can a team built from the scraps of every single NHL team compete at this level

I would pay money to know the true feelings George McPhee had when he put this team together. Did he even try to win? Was he just trying to field a non-playoff team that didnt embarrass themselves? Ay part of him think 'hey, we might win our division and make the Cup Finals?"

I'm guessing he, like everyone else, thought this team was going nowhere. I never heard one person say anything about even making the playoffs, let alone being competitive. In fact, the teams biggest supporters/advocates were all talking about how good of a job was done for building for the future, and not trying to win now. Kind of laughable now.

Goes to show once again, its sports, its people, anything can happen.
